For some reason, I've been having an itch to want to play non-cyberpunk, "modern" sci-fi titles that existed about a decade or two ago. I don't exactly know how to describe the "feel" I'm looking for apart from using the two songs in the OP as examples of what I want.

You mean sci-fi set in the modern times? Matrix is late 90s when they are inside the Matrix itself, so some Matrix games. Metal Gear Solid, Predator Concrete Jungle.

I'm trying to understand what you mean, OP. "Modern" sci-fi, do you mean more of a realistic sci-fi instead of wacky out there sci-fi?

The first thing that comes to mind are the earlier Halo games with the Starship Troopers vibe.
