Booted up The Sims 2 PS2 port today and remembered that one of the levels has a bunch of gypsy sand pirates with muslim names that the player needs to kill to progress. Since it's an attempt at an outdoor level, traditional methods involving fireplaces and rocket benches don't work so they have to be contained into a pen and starved to death while the PC watches, or accidentally hit with a golf ball. They also cannot reanimate into life unless they pay the Grim Reaper $666 which they don't have, or win at checkers (which they also can't win at because they all have no logic skill). And if left unchecked the pirates will just kill the PC by setting them on fire with a lighter (called "failed prank" ingame), and will do so on other lots until the PC finally deals with them (although they can be easily trapped or killed on other levels). Checked the developer and they're Australian (working on a Maxis branded game within EA, of course).
They'd never be able to get away with this today.
