I've got restored GBA SP and a flashcart that can easily play .gba and .gbc games. WHat are your favorites?

2dcb3c  No.16286055

The F-Zero series on it, but I've found that F-Zero doesn't feel as good on it compared to the GBA Micro.

These games aren't usually in the top GBA games list because they're not made by Nintendo or a subsidiary, but they are fucking awesome.

>Swordcraft Saga 1 and 2

>Ninja Five-O (AKA Ninja Cop)

>Astro Boy Omega Factor (it's not just Astro Boy either, it contains fan service for everything Tezuka in its post-game)

>Gunstar Super Heroes

>Advance Guardian Legends (basically anything by Treasure)

>Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure (AKA the best Dragon Ball game ever made)

The Mega Man Zero games really want you to perfect them by getting S ranks and it can be really tough to find that perfect balance. They play amazingly and for that reason they are very addictive.

Consider these HOT OPINIONS

MMZ3 > MMZ4 > MMZ2 > MMZ

8b0fa6  No.16286306

>>16286230

No, no, you got it wrong anon. It's actually.

MMZ2>MMZ4>MMZ3>MMZ1

Two has the best level design and boss battles, while still remaining very challenging. The chain rod is also the most fun version of of the triple rod.

Four has lackluster levels and boss battles but has lots of QoA enhancements you like not tying EX skills to rank and actually allowing you to use elves without feeling like a murderer to spice up the gameplay along with the weather gimmicks. Also has one of the best and memorable final boss battle setups in history of video games period.

Three doesn't have much to stand out with compared to the above examples, aside from the final boss battle which is mechanically speaking the best in the series, the gameplay is difficult but not particularly engaging otherwise. Also recoil rod is shit.

The first one is very dated and clunky compared to the sequels. Not necessarily bad, but they improve upon the formula so much that the original appears lackluster in comparison. It does have a better aesthetic however in my opinion with it's UI and level design that gives the world a bleak and hopeless feel to it that the sequels discarded in favor of a sleeker more modern look.

bbf5a6  No.16286318

>>16286306

The actual final boss in MZ4 was kinda lame (the second or third phase, where it's the TWO GIANT ROBOT SHOULDERS OF X AND ZERO, it seemed overdone) but the actual context of it was a fantastic way to end the series

I liked 3 mechanically and for the challenge. 2 felt like it was missing a little bit.

All the Sims games on GBA were very fun. Personally I liked The Sims 2 best, it was like a reverse Truman Show plot wise, where you are the one who is in the know that all the plots are a movie set and nobody else does.

This was unironically one of my favorite games on gbc. Obviously its going to be different from the PC version, but the music makes this entire game. I still find myself humming the mission theme at least once a week, twenty years later.

Can confirm because I had one.

The battery for Pokemon died like over a decade ago. The plants stopped growing ingame.

If I remember correctly they didn't even grow while you played. So that was the end of it.

But the OP said he got a flashcart, that's not an issue then. Best of both worlds.

I want to use that too because I don't like playing GBA games on the big screen and I hate smartphones.

You can replace it youself, even without souldering.

1) remove the old one carefully with a knife

2) place new battery between contacts and secure it with the tape

If you mean Ruby and Sapphire, I think that was more a bug that kicked in after 99:99 time played or something than anything to actually do with the internal battery. From what I recall they both put out actual kiosks in stores that when communicated with essentially patched the bug (and gave the player a free shiny Zigzagoon), and I want to say even communicating with Colosseum and Gale of Darkness would also fix it.

>>16291210

Cartridge batteries are replaceable. A store out here does so for any Game Boy/GBC/GBA Pokemon games when they get them traded in regardless, since data longevity is important for that series.

I'm just going to chime in to this day old conversation to say that I hated 4 because they fucked with the z-saber's timings and the ending lag after slices is nearly doubled causing me to fuck up constantly, specifcally it took way longer to jump after completing a slice. The animation looks worse too, more of a solid giant triangle toy block than a triangular light sword being swung quickly. I'm torn between 2 and 3 but I definitely preferred both of them to MMZ4. 3 also allows you to use quite a few elves with the introduction of satellite elves (note that many elves needed to be fed crystals to swap from fusion to satellite). 3 also had lots of good collectable power ups which were miles better than 4's 'grind mats for chips' system. 2 probably still comes out as best over all since the stages and bosses were great.
