I have the Epic Launcher because I am learning UE4 among other things and I got assets that I can add to my projects, has anyone discovered any way to block the launcher from accessing stuff it shouldn't? namely my Steam information?

I'd suggest switching engines. Who knows when Tencent will change the ToS to lock all UE4 project, mods, freeware, and games publishing rights to the Epic Games Store. That'll be a shit show worth watching when it happens.

They changed slave because SJWs got triggered and threatened a harassment campaign. Xenko just went open source. That's what I'm using right now. The downside is that it uses C# as the core. I think you can run scripts in other languages but you have to bring your own library.

The lack of Linux support for the editor does hurt Xenko. I'm looking through their FAQ and they say nothing about a content ban. It uses a MIT license and asks no royalties. Unlike Unity or UE4 they might not have content restrictions to protect the brand. I'll skim through the ToS in a bit.

I wish there were free engines for building console games. I know there's someone on github that's supposedly making a Unity-like engine for N64 dev. If he manages to finish, that would be really interesting. There's that kikestarter commercial NES Maker too if you pirate it, but that'd be better use as an IDE with you writing your own assembly instead of making cookie cutter shit that might not run well with its modular preset engines.

Do you want to make something worthwhile and long-term by pouring passion into it? Make your own engine. Do you just want to have a reason to say "I made a 3d game" and make something that looks, feels and plays like something that's been made before? First ask "why?" then preferably use an engine not tied to the chink botnet.
