>Mullen: I remember recently with [Yakuza] Kiwami this time last year, there's a character, one of the two hostesses you can find of have a relationship with. One of them identifies as a lesbian. I remember having a lot of discussion with Scott [Strichart, Yakuza localization producer] about how to approach that storyline. The way her story results in Japanese, if translated straight, comes off as that like "Well you just never met a real man" kind of feel to it. But I don't think that's the intention they were going for, that's just the way it comes across in English. So I do remember there being this light feeling of needing to change the language, because that's not the point here.
>Andrew Davis: But often development can be a global collaborative process, like developers in Japan will listen to our feedback and sometimes they will say "We're in the middle of design for this, do you think this will be something that could be appropriate globally?" And sometimes we'll come back with our comments and say "Well, this is how this will be seen in this culture," whether it's American culture or whatever. Like I've had to say, "In Germany, you have to understand this would be very sensitive." So we can go back to the dev teams and sometimes we do have the opportunity to have a dialogue and it's always interesting.
I really dont know whats really said in original since I cant speak Japanese so cant verify if its sjw stuff at the source.

It is what is really written in Japanese, at least in the first example. Though you can argue they are saying "advanced" instead of progressive, but "progress" is also part of the meaning of 進.
At least in Japan when it comes to girls liking other girls, because they are cute, cool or whatever is not uncommon. Even in the West really, it is a human staple that both men and women care and like women more. It is part of the reason why feminist are extremely wrong about advertisement and the "male gaze". Yes. As I said the only argument would be if it should be translated as "advanced" or "progressive", but either should be acceptable, though maybe advanced would be a bit more correct, but then again it is just everyday talk, not people that would know more complex gaijin words.
You can find a lot of ways to say "progressive", also depending on the meaning. A simple way would be just saying it in English with プログレッシブ. 進歩 means "progress" in general. So "進歩的(な)" seems maybe like the most correct way to say "progressive" as an adjective. 進歩主義 would mean "progressivism" as a noun in political sense. 進歩党 means "progressive party". And then you have something like 進歩的労働党 which is how the Japanese translated the American "Progressive Labor Party".
So as you can see 進 is the root of all of them. The thing is if they had written it in the official way nips might not have understood it or really the writers themselves might not even not even be that knowledgeable. So instead they say a simple "they are advanced overseas" (compared to us in Japan). Though with the post here >>16238610 how much influence the dirty gaijin had, no one can say.

Not exactly - in fact, the head of the department literally said that part of his job was making sure that memes DIDN'T get into the script.
(He also said, rightly, that the Yugioh reference slipped past because it fit the scene so perfectly he didn't even notice it. "Screw the rules, I have money!" was very close to what he was actually saying, and not at all out of place.)
In the same vein, I'm still not sure what the supposed Oblivion reference is. Unlike "screw the rules", "Stop right there, criminal scum" is a very generic kind of line that has been used over and over again in countless games, movies and TV show.

While still on the topic, I thought of something else. Maybe some people have noticed the subs often say "yakuza", but the characters don't say it, but say "gokudo:" 極道 instead. 道 (do) is the word for "way/road", it is used a lot in Japanese for teachings or martial-arts that are considered Japanese. "The way of the…". 極 (goku) also has the reading of "kiwami", and as you know kiwami means extreme. So from here gokudo can mean "the way of the extreme", what westerns seems to often translate it as. But other than extreme it can also mean wicked, evil or immoral. Gokudo is a word the yakuza often use instead of yakuza as it is a descriptive of their way of life, as is yakuza itself too really.
Fun fact: 極右 (kyo:kuu) means far right.

They do call themselves yakuza among each other, but in front of the public they present themselves are businesses. The general public will also call them yakuza too when talking among each other. I think it is uncommon for a civilian to call them gokudo. But yeah, the government calls them our equivalent of "organized criminals" / "violent groups".
The meaning of yakuza is more commonly know, but let me add about it too. It basically is a slang for "loser", "the lowest of the lowest". It comes from a certain traditional Japanese card game. It is the name of the worst hand you can get ya(8)-ku(9)-sa(3).
So either names imply you are a trash on the outskirts of civilized society.

It is a comedy about 3 guys fucking up their job and their oyabun punishes them by sending them to Thailand to get a surgeries to look like women. Unrealistically the look like girls out of high school school (pic unrelated), even though they were 30 something year old yakuza-looking fuckers. The oyabun's plan is to make them work as an idol group. Basically the oyabun is crazy and puts the trio through a lot.
It is a great anime and it has some funny story behind the original translation. At first some tumblr tranny was translating it, but when he realized the anime didn't care about the sensibilities of his kind he dropped it.
But now there is descent official translation it seems. As far as I have checked it, it seems good.

It makes perfect sense. I've played chess ever since I was 5 when I played with my grandfather that getting used to Shogi seems like an impossible task to me considering the baggage I bring from playing chess for more than 2 decades now. It's like driving school, it's better to learn from scratch than learning from when you already have had experience before driving school. You risk learning habits which will be hard to get out of when learning "textbook" driving.
That being said, I did bother to learn Koi-Koi, but it ended up being piss easy due to how bad the computer is, so much so that a complete beginner could kick its ass even if playing at the hardest level. Some moons ago an anon posted a beginner's guide to the card game (or more precisely a "good enough to get Haruka's request done" guide). Him posting about just focusing on ribbons and sake cup hands made it much easier to know how to beat the computer at it.

Can someone tell me if the PS3 games run at 60fps in the menu or not? There is a bug with the emulator that causes the menu to run at hundreds of fps. Have to limit the fps, but not sure if to choose 30 or 60fps. 30 is by default the limit during gameplay.
Because of this post here >>16241338 I decided to download some of the PS3 games and test them on the emulator. Have only tried Kazen so far. Mind you I am running on a Ryzen 1600.
On the main stream of the city I can get down to 15-18fps, even on some places there I can get it up to 30fps. On other streets it can get 30fps a lot more, though with some often drops, depending.
Did the first fight many times. Pretty much 30fps, though with the occasional high-up or not.
Though I am sure how many characters on screen matters to some extend, a lot more seems to matter how far into the distance you can see, even if they are is nothing, but buildings there i can cause the fps to drop to 15-17-18.
In buildings seems to be pretty much 30fps, but it has its downs, maybe the most when it is moving the from one set camera angle to another.

It's no longer a multiple-choice puzzle with a few twists here and there. You get a bunch of random topics of conversation from what is effectively a "topic deck" which draws 6 "cards" with topics and questions to talk to them about. After you pick a topic, you see the result and "draw" another one. You can also discard topics you don't want iirc. The topics are also arranged into types, some are good for conversation, some are sexy, some are gentlemanly etc. Most topics belong to more than one type. The reason why there's types is that you want to create chains, or continuously pick the same type(s) of topics so that you get a combo chain going which makes the hostess' heart gauge rise faster. Most topics which are a question prompt a counterquestion from the hostess, Kiryu then gets 3 choices for answers, similar to how the hostess minigame used to be. Also, some of the topics have unique answers from a certain hostess which lets you find out more about them, those also usually have a multiple choice question associated with it, again like in the old hostess minigame. Speaking of finding out more about hostesses, each one of them has a character sheet, which you have to fill out by asking questions. All of them have the basic shit, for example hobbies, favorite music, favorite food, the type of men they like etc. but there's also one entry that is unique to that one hostess. There's also an upgrade to get more topics but they're so dirt cheap that I maxed them out before even going to the host club once.
When it comes to selection, I like Hikaru the most, but all of the hostesses are god-tier imo except for Riona. She was given the perfect shitstorm of giving her a boring as fuck personality together with a really unflattering 3D model of her which made her look like a melting wax figure.

A man can dream, but yeah we probably won't get one. I read somewhere that the localization team talked about how it wouldn't really be possible to port the game because of the old Japanese it uses but I call bullshit. There are a lot of Samurai games that got released in the west and Dark Souls, where the voice acting is done in old English, also has Japanese subtitles.
I am however 100% sure that we'll get Kiwami 2, 3,4,5 HD and 6 on PC. Sega has been porting a lot of different games to PC recently and with Kiwami 2 and 3,4 HD being on PS4, porting them is going to be a lot easier than it was for PS3 games.

Honestly even if they release it subtitles in just normal English, it wouldn't matter. People don't care much. Mind you what you are going to hear in Japanese period dramas is not specifically old Japanese anyway. Just a small part of it that sounds more like a dialect than anything else, because otherwise Japense people won't understand it either. Now literature is a different matter. It is the same in the West with period dramas too really, even less modified modern English perhaps.

They've already remastered 3 and are planning to remaster 4 and 5 as well. Sega doesn't want to do any more remakes since they're working on Shin Yakuza right now. How do Yakuza development cycles work anyway? In the last 4 years we got: Fist of the North Star, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza 0, Yakuza 6 and Judgement. It's not even the main reason why it's so good. The parry window is by far the widest parry window out of any counter move in the series, you could have a shit-tier sense of timing and still get it off all the goddamn time.

My guess is balancing. Only difference is that the parry was shit in every other Yakuza game BUT 0 since it did shit for damage and served only as a gateway to a heat action, the stun you got out of it was nothing special either, the tiger drop on the other hand did way more damage and was much more useful, so its timing is of course tighter. In 0 the parry does decent damage, knocks down and its timing window is stupid wide. It's even more overpowered than the tiger drop and that's really saying something.

Just use Rush. In my opinion it's the best style Kiryu has until you've fully upgraded Dragon.
>First boss is just a weak Mr. Shakedown that soaks up damage for 10 minutes and constantly shits out hp bars
That boss is godawful I agree but he's really easy if you use Rush or Brawler and dodge his attacks which is easily done as they all have a super long wind up.
>Final boss is just three asshats with guns that constantly knock you down
Godawful as well but manageable with enough heat+healing potions and the beast style.
>"Difficulty" is synonymous with "stunlocking" and how challenging a fight is depends on how hard the boss stunlocks you and how bullshit their dodging is (where some of the "hardest" bosses do nothing but stand in place and flip in place which makes them take no damage whatsoever even if you're currently slamming a motorcycle through them)
For me that hardest boss was the gunfaggot, but once you figure out that you just have to use Rush and dodge every time he rolls he, again, becomes just incredibly tedious. And I think that describes this games difficulty in general, all of the enemies seem to attack less often than they did in 0. The only enemy that I would describe as actually difficult is the Dojo master that teaches you Dragon style (can't remember his name) in the coliseum.

Actually it won't be easy because of that, it'll be easy because Kiryu's Amon fight in 0 is a complete gimmick fight. I don't want to spoil it too much, just make sure to pick up a certain item that drops periodically.

It took a lot of flak but I also liked 6, maybe my second favorite storywise, feels like a better use of 3's setting with none of its bullshit. I'd only add more screen time to a few characters (Kanji and Matsunaga) and set the finale on the Yamato Mk.II. Yakuza 6 deserves a re-edition IMHO, just to load it up with content.
Ryuuji's probably my favorite character in the series and possibly the strongest enemy Kiryu faced (after 2, he's the one monologuing the final bosses) but all the weird shit that circles the story of Yakuza 2 soil what should have been the main focus.

Anyway, my last year purchases were all Yakuza games - Y6, Kiwami 2 and FotNS - and I'm kinda burned out on the series. Yakuza 6 doesn't have much, very barebones compared to Zero, Kiwami and 5; FotNS is a great game at its core that has been completely destroyed by shitty game design decisions and Kiwami 2, while a improvement of the Dragon Engine formula, is not a definitive version of Yakuza 2 and I can't even bring myself to clear it a second time.

>The only hard thing that's left now is learning how to play Mah-jong
It's just poker with a bit of extra difficulty piled on top, the basic rules are still not that difficult. Here's a rundown:
You get 4 sets of 3 the same or 3 in a row of the same type of tiles, plus one pair, and you get scored on specific combinations of sets. There's some exceptions, such as only making pairs or when you get 4 of the same tile, but you generally just will have those normal hands. Your hand does need to have a minimum score to be a winning hand, though.
Each turn you pick up a tile and discard one, and when you have 2 the same or in a row and some nigger discards a tile you can use to make a set of 3 you can claim it. If that is your winning tile said nigger pays more than when you pick your own winning tile.
If you don't call other people's discard and are one away from a hand, you can bet some extra cash (riichi) at the expense of people knowing you nearly won.
If you don't know anything about mahjong I should probably also add that there's 3 big sets (red and black chinksquigglies, dots, and bamboo+that bird), plus 4 blue chinksquigglies for each direction and three "dragon" tiles that don't look like fucking dragons but are red green and blank. There's 4 of every single tile.
What's actually hard is learning to read into what your opponents discard to figure out what hand they're building and what you can safely discard, and the one gorillion different hands and their scores. But the basics can be summarized in two paragraphs by a sleep deprived weeb.

>It became a tradition that SEGA removed the licensed songs in Yakuza. But this never was a big deal since it only affected the opening and in some cases the credits. The problem with the removal of the songs in Yakuza 6 is the importance. The songs are beautiful in it's own way and they really fit the "Song of Life" theme in the game. It was actually a huge shock for me the moment I figured out. Right at the beginning of the game I knew something was fishy because the melody at Harukas farewell from Okinawa don't fit the mood in the western version of the game. It's a melancholic melody, it's Ok it's absolutely solid, but cutting Sobo, the song that actually plays in that moment, is a huge bummer. Sobo is the title song and you actually hear it in the western debut trailer for Yakuza 6 which makes it even more sad that they removed it due to licencing issues.

I'm about 5 chapters in and it seems like the game has been introducing more and more mechanics that are intended as side content, but when am I expected to do this stuff? It seems like most of the time so far I am being railroaded along the plot, with city streets being blocked by signs and being prevented from going too far out in the buggy. Will the game open up a bit more at some stage so I can access all the side content at my leisure? I'm finding the game fucking rad so far since I am a big fan of Hokuto no Ken and I am considering picking up the Yakuza games after I finish.

>>16262776
Sure, you are allowed.
Well I haven't played that game, but if I presume it is indeed side content that you are talking about, yeah, you will most likely be able to do it after the game is finished.
In Yakuza too, if a certain part of the story demands it your way might be blocked by invisible walls represented with a stop sign on the map. Mind you the edges of the map are invisible walls anyway, but you can clearly see how big them map is on the map screen. But such restrictions are not the norm and during most story segments you can explore the whole map just fine. But even if Hokuto no Ken is more restrictive in that manner, I am sure the map will eventually fully open.
tl;dr You do them whenever you want and it the map will open or at least that is the Yakuza standard.

Nothing wrong with that, the only good thing about it is singing Karaoke with her, that shit is cute as fuck. Walking hand in hand with her is also a nice touch, I just wish you could pick her up and let her sit on your shoulders or something, hearing her say "wait a bit" a million times while you run to your destination gets really old really fast. Otherwise it's just something for masochistic completionists like myself.

The game forces you to play everything far past the point of exhaustion. I maintain the devs felt obliged to make a game where you sink three digit hour numbers but the game's too short for it; it could have been a fun, replayable get-everything-done in 30-40h game but instead it's a 100+ hour grindfest you'll never want to play again. I also think the leveling system ruins it - you get to a point regardless of difficulty level, that you'll overpower every opponent besides special high level encounters because it's not just the damage, the higher the level difference, the easier it is to put the enemy in Meridian Shock so story bosses become a joke, I was playing on Legend and I didn't even use techniques on bosses, a timed press of Circle was my big damage choice just so I could savor the damn fight.
The worst of Coliseum enemies is that they put a much harder fight then the guy they're aping. The Raoh guy, per instances, is fuckin' vicious. They should have added a reward or a little cheat where the last opponent can be swapped with the real character.
Speaking of Raoh the game needed a epilogue chapter where you fight him at Lv99 or something (the game needs tons of things but this one would be very easy to add). At first I thought the game would work like a intermission chapter between Cassandra and maybe Thouzer but major plot points are done there, namely Raoh knowing Yuria is the last Nanto master so no way in hell he'd just let Kenshiro walk away with her.

It really does, the level system and level scaling is fucking dumb, they could've made it where damage output of both you and the enemies is only slightly affected the more you go through the game. Same with health, give all bosses except badass motherfuckers like Souther and Raoh roughly the same amount of health, the rest are supposed to be of equal strength anyway (Rei and Shin for example) or in some cases you just give them an extra health bar. I did all side content the first time around so I could just breeze through the story in the second playthrough, which meant that I wasn't even fully upgraded since I was missing those golden balls that you only get from completing chapters, so there's not enough of them for the first playthrough, and in my Legend playthrough all bossfights except for Raoh and the last two were mere formalities. I beat Shin, Rei, Toki, Uighur, pretty much everyone now that I think with it, with 2-3 punches+well-timed pressure point press and it drained their health bar instantly and took me to their end-of-fight QTEs.
>The worst of Coliseum enemies is that they put a much harder fight then the guy they're aping.
Yeah, if you play on Legend, max level Raohmask can destroy you in 2-3 hits. It's bullshit. The "Canon" difficulty is fucked too, the levels are fucked up. As I said earlier, Shin and Rei are supposed to be equals in terms of strength, however in "Canon" difficulty Shin is weaker than fucking Devil Rebirth and as strong as Uighur. Also, Souther is supposed to be a whole league above all other Nanto Rokusei Ken so much so that he's pretty much untouchable against them (remember his fight against Shu in the manga? Shu is supposed to be roughly equal to Rei and Shin in strength and he couldn't even touch Souther before getting completely wrecked). But in the game's "Canon" difficulty he's just 5 levels above Rei. BULLSHIT, COMPLETE BULLSHIT! Also, the final boss whose name escapes me because he's completely forgettable is level 99. I get that it makes sense in gameplay, but in "Canon" terms some faggot whose only powers is that he goes fast and can shoot a gun would make him a C-level fighter like Jagi, maybe B-level like the Colonel and Devil Rebirth if you're really pushing it, but then again every B-level character in HnK is a master of a bullshit-tier martial art, he isn't a master of anything.
>spoiler
Honestly, it would've worked out best if it was like one of those spinoffs, where it's a completely brand new adventure where only some things have a connection to the main lore, like that Kenshiro prequel where he meets Shin's former master and one of his training partners. In the game you have Nadai who is a general in Raoh's army. THAT'S IT, DONE. They don't need anything else. Them trying to shoehorn every major character into the story only cheapened the whole story and the characters themselves. They couldn't even bother to make the Shin fight canon, the blonde metrosexual didn't even chuck himself off a rooftop.

On the BloodborneBox only 12.4% of people completed the game, so you guys have it better. I think he dies like this in the animated movie though succumbing to Raoh's technique.
Besides re-adjusting all the completion requisites and mini-game payoffs as well as remove leveling, I'd change the game like:
Prologue: make it longer, have Mr Heart as the tutorial boss and Shin a proper fight
Ch4: have Kenshiro fight Raiga and Fuga at the gates, go inside for a long battle, fight Uighur, include Jesus beam scene
Ch6: I'd swap this and the following with Jagi's
Ch–: first Jagi chapter, include a Majima Everywhere style system where you're getting constantly ambushed by Jagi, he could even try to run you over with his bike and shit. Boss would be someone working with Jagi, could be Zed with his gang or Club, Spade and Diamond
Ch8: standard Jagi chapter
Ch7: standard Thouzer chapter
Ch–: another new chapter, have this one be about Juda and Mamiya and Rei peaces out after this. There's a abandoned station near the bridge, transform that into a proper village for Mamiya and even put a couple of play spots there like fishing and throwing javelins at punks trying to jump the wall
Ch9: include a huge long battle at the gates of Eden until you know who arrives. This chapter is literally just the boss battle, for fuck's sake!
Epilogue: as already mentioned
da7e2b No.16263338
Forgot to say. About ch9, I would change the boss fight - two phases and in the first one, Raoh will remain on Kokuoh so you'll fight both. Maybe include the technique he uses to kill Rei as a failed QTE.

At least it's clear what's canon and what's not in the Hokuto no Ken "Expanded Universe", since a HnK Bible was released a decade ago, it's got some ungodly name though, you know how Japs are with giving ridiculous amounts of subtitles to something. Rule of thumb, I don't even attempt to platinum Yakuza games. The only exception is 6 because it doesn't have the fluff mini-games. The rest are around the 70-80% mark. That said, mahjong is the one thing preventing me from clearing Kiwami 2's completion list and I got Hokuto at 98% or something (I just can't beat that rhythm game, it's hard as nails).
For some actual news - Yakuza 5 remaster (PS4) will launch on June 20 in Japan for 3,990 yen.
I wager the west is getting a package with all three.
Yakuza 3 got a bunch of censorships, a mini-game removed (a quiz of Japan-centric trivia) and hostesses replaced because of contract issues; Yakuza 4 swapped the actor for Tanimura and I don't know what else changed about it ; still no word about what they might change in 5 (I'd appreciate if they removed soul orb farming).

Probably 75% less content.
- all chance mini-games removed
- Kamurocho is missing both the Hotel and Champion districts
- after Zero/Kiwami, you're back to one fighting style with a good amount of abilities locked behind tard rage mode
- no weapons besides those you pick up
- less Heat actions (the tard rage extreme close-ups don't make up for it)
- encounters are all the standard walking group (special encounters like harassers are limited to the Troublr missions) but even 0/Kiwami paled compared to 5 in this regard
Onomichi is super comfy and as I already said, I love the story and the cast, the new engine allows for cool stuff like taking fights into stores and combat feels very meaty but the game is very barebones.

Yes and no. Chance mini-games are back (not as many as in Zero though), there's weapons, combat has more nuances to it like the charge attacks, you can now run into harassers like in Zero, Hotel and Champion Districts are back etc. But on the flip side, it's a budget title so you'll see re-used assets like boss move sets and now it's the Sotenbori map that's missing a couple of chunks and for license reasons they couldn't get most of the Yakuza 2 OST and what you get in return is godawful. And while you shouldn't look a gifted horse in the mouth, the Memejima story sucks.
Despite the improvements over 6, I'm a bit iffy on Kiwami 2. It's a alternative to 2 and not its definitive version.
6b75d8 No.16264883
>>16264830
They added all the shit that was missing from 6, updated the combat to make it more fluent, added more heat actions so you don't have to go into autistic rage mode to have access to more than 50% of your heat actions, weapons, Kamurocho is now complete, minigames added back etc.
Problem is, it's not a viable replacement for the original 2, just like 6 the game simply gets too easy too fast. Ryuji is probably the hardest end boss in any Yakuza game and in Kiwami 2 he becomes a pushover just due to how retardedly strong Kiryu gets by endgame. There's also an entire district missing, they were probably too lazy to add in one long street. The story part that happened in that small district got moved to various locations in Sotenbori. The OST is also terrible, the Outlaw's Lullaby remix is as good as the original, but there's too many tracks missing that got replaced with shitty new tracks.

I have to be honest here, I don't get the hype for Yakuza 0 so far. The story is nothing that special, though of course everything is acted very well, but the lip synch is still shite. Zero is indeed too cut-scene full. Sure I am only at episode 10 currently, but I pass the half-point. Kiwami was actually more interesting overall when it game to actual gameplay and fighting.I want to say "there are barely any different locations than the streets", but so far I am not sure there has been. Excluding something like the cabaret and Serena, which are not exactly shining examples of level design. When you compare all of this to the levels in Kiwami and the constant action in Kiwami, Zero feels lacking. The story would get so boring that instead of just walking to the next cut scene with minimal gameplay here and there I often would stop to go waste time with something else. Even so I don't feel like I have done much with the side activities. Not completely sure how I even have 28 hours.
The two big mini games are nothing special. They are so heavily overrated and overhyped by people. The real estate especially is just borefest. The cabaret club has a bit more gameplay, but it is essentially just the real estate with a timer in many ways.
Even the substories. I admit I have played a very little part of them so far, but in Kiwami they would manage to intrigue me and get me into playing them way more than Zero has done so far.

I think it's worth noting that Kiwami 2's combat isn't an improvement over 6's in every way. When playing the K2 demo one of the first things I noticed was that iirc you couldn't charge turnaround finishing blows anymore, which I was pretty disappointed with since the chargeable 180° axe kick was one of my most used moves in 6.
I also much preferred 6's bosses since they all had original movesets and I felt that the movesets K2's bosses reuse from the older engine didn't translate to the Dragon Engine well. I had the same issue with the first Kiwami, only it's worse in the case of K2. The combat is technically better than the game that came before it, but only in a vacuum, since the vast majority of the things you use it against are opponents you already fought in previous games which weren't designed with this combat system in mind.

>I also much preferred 6's bosses since they all had original movesets and I felt that the movesets K2's bosses reuse from the older engine didn't translate to the Dragon Engine well.
Yes, that's a big issue. In 6 Kiryu, bosses and even thugs would suffer from flinching after having their attacks blocked, making the next attack come out significantly slower. This is because all movesets are either brand new or in the case of some thug movesets were changed to accommodate the changes to the combat. Bosses would often be unable to finish their attack combos if you blocked them at some parts of their combo. Some boss movesets from pre-Dragon engine have been changed so that parts of their attack combo get influenced by flinching after some of their attacks get blocked, most however weren't. Fighting against minibosses or bosses who use those movesets is a pain in the ass.

This is by far one of my biggest problems with Kiwami, you can't exchange your XP for anything or level beyond max. As a matter of fact, not only do I not gain anything from fighting Memejima, no, I lose something mainly health. They could've at least made it so that he gives you money or some healing items, preferably both. At least Dragon becomes by far the best style once you've got it fully upgraded.

Why bother when you get 3 less diverse(?) styles maxed off waaaay earlier?
Rush gets insane in 1v1s because you can weasel out of enemy combos, Beast is amazing crowd control and Brawler is for when you haven't ranked up either Rush or Beast to an usable degree.
Seriously, at maxed out Rush it feels like you're playing Godhand.

Sure but these other styles don't allow me to finish a max difficulty colosseum tournament in 44 seconds.

But why would you do a colosseum tourney if not to level up Dragon?

Because I'm a masochistic autist and need the weapons for 100% completion.

>Majima in the movie looks like he drew his goatee on with a sharpie.
It's something he would do.

Does anyone here genially enjoy Pocket Racing? It's just a tedious 2 button mini-game with god awful rubberbanding and shitty RNG. Does it get less shit in later games?

Sadly not, no. But that the soundtrack of Kiwami is only 37 minutes long so you can probably find it pretty fast.

I did. For a whole 10 minutes before Kiryu's overdramatic expressions and the novelty wore off.

went throught that and complete ost, and no luck.
Pocket racing is fun for first races. it gets bit tedious later. but it wasnt that bad as some other minigames.

I enjoyed it. I really liked the customization aspect and the fact that it's possible to create your own circuits.
Anyone knows if the Cabaret Czar minigame returns in future Yakuza titles? Or something similar to it.

Kiryu does it in Kiwami 2 I think. Older Yuki is running it.
