I had fun with the non-remake FE games. Fates was not all too good, but I still had fun with it. Awakening was a step in the nu-direction, however I still found it memorable.

I can't speak to modern consoles because I havent owned a current-generation console since 2012.

It's a broad category. Early seventh gen had plenty of great titles and showed much hope and there were still some good titles released in its second rotten half, it's this gen that brought nearly nothing memorable.

Plenty. For RTT I really liked Shadow Tactics and Syrian Warfare, for TBT I still haven't gotten sick of Invisible Inc. Orcs Must Die and Vanquish quickly made their way to the top of my TPS lists what I would give to get a new TPS in the vein of Heretic 2, where you can acrobat the shit out of everything and you have a sick melee combat system to boot., Styx Master of Shadows has made it into the list of stealth games I marathon every year and both La Mulana games have genuinely made me happy and scratched countless itches I had with a metroidvania and a 2d platformer, in gameplay, puzzle, world and music. Twin Stick shootan had it's fair share of really good games like Assault Android and Nex Machina and lesser but still fun games like Neon Chrome and Synthetik.

EDF and the first two Trine games made me remember why playing multiplayer with my brother was so enjoyable so there are those too.

Having a toaster I can't really comment on 3d action games like Nioh or Souls or Dragon's Dogma or stuff like that, but I liked Ys 8 a lot, although I still hold the opinion that Origins and Oath in Felghana are still the best of the series.

I like the massive jump in quality from the previous two games. It's not yet at the level of the PSP games but I think they're getting really close to mastering that 3d party system bullshit they're insisting on having.

Also Falcom's shift from really sick pumping up tracks to really calm, neat and relaxing themes is bittersweet. On one hand we'll never get something as good as Scars of a Divine Wing or Scarlet Tempest but at the same time the likes of embed is actually really nice.

Post some HIDDEN GEMS from the sixth gen, because from what I've seen, I can't see too many games I actually cared for. Now, true, Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite games of all time So is Deus Ex, but I think that's technically fifth gen, dividing PC games is hard. but any of the other series I enjoyed died on sixth gen and got replaced by garbage. One great game does not make a generation. PS1 and N64 were great compared to the consoles that came after. Hell, the Gamecube is by far the worst Nintendo console, excluding only maybe the Virtual Boy, as that had the shittest versions of every single big Nintendo series. Depends what you consider a hidden gem. Pikmin is one of my favourite franchises, and the PS2 had it's fair share of quirky experimental things like Katamari Damacy. The 6th gen does seem to be the point where the crowd started to thin though. Certain prominent games started taking all of the attention, as opposed to there being weird and wonderful things to explore in every direction.

It was designed to work in cohesion with every other aspect of the game, including visuals, sound, story, characters etc. You can't have an oppressive yet eerily beautiful castle escape/rescue game when the main character can move like Raiden in Revengeance.

Gravity Rush 2 and Tearaway: Unfolded are the only games in a decade or more that I like as much as games from 15+ years ago. Well also the original Gravity Rush and Tearaway on Vita.
