While I agree and like the way the older games look, I feel I should play Devil's advocate and point out that the first two weren't really a "style" choice so much as it was just attempted realism limited by the hardware. It's only now that it's retroactively become a style in itself because of the distinct aesthetic.

Shit, the gameplay actually looks pretty promising. Fighting looks solid. Hopefully it has unlockable combos and stuff. Now we just need to see what the gameplay is like in between fights. Lucky Hit better be in. I'm hoping it keeps the time system too. Shenmue was always an adventure bloated with a sandbox on top. It strived for realism from the start. The creator of this clusterfuck made two games, more than twenty hours each, and he hadn´t even come close to the middle of his soap opera. Yu Suzuki should have never made anything more complex than an arcade game. Those graphics are the result of having colossal ambitions and shit tier budget. Don´t fall for the hype, the only think that isn´t gonna sink with Suzuki this time is Sony, who smartly let the scammer get his bucks from his kickstarter victims.
If we are gonna see the ending of shenmue in this lifetime, it will be in the form of a manga, or even a crappy CD-Drama, but the guy is never going to finish anything worthwhile.

I was hoping DMC5 would do the same and follow DMC4 look but I don't think devs ever realize that games sometimes get this certain look attached to it that becomes very recognizable or memorable to people. The problem is people want change just for the sake of change even if following in the footsteps of the previous game visually would be the better choice.

Why do they always animate these models so…"floppily"? Like can't they exaggerate the movements a bit to show some more tension? Feels like half the characters are just shrugging.
Actually this is an issue with a lot of games, since they go for full mocap it looks janky and uninspired, what they should do is mix the mocap for unimportant scenes with pre-rendered cutscenes that show stronger movements and exaggerated emotions.
