Let's have a thread to talk about those games that were only released in the language from the East (and relative translation patches when avaible), but are still worth checking out.

First pic is a quite niche horror game, first person, where the protagonist's main weapon is a magical spear he uses to kill various manner of ghosts. The game offers many throwables, seemingly with different elements to exploit the enemy's weakness. I managed to play it and even kill the first boss but then the game gives you a lot of choices to pick from and it halted my progress entirely.

Second is MHP3rd, considered by many as the most comfy Monster Hunter game to date, fully translated and avaible on threads here on /v/ to download.

Last comes ST:A, a prototype for the souls games, very interesting all the way through and also fully translated, altough the automatic rifles kind of break the game by being too strong.

Seiken Densetsu 3 is an absolute must play. Lord knows why it wasn't officially released in the west when Secret of Mana was a success, but thankfully the fan translation is readily available.

All the NES Dragon Quests (1 through 4) were released here in the west, but it's a shame they stopped translating these right when they started getting really good. Dragon Quest 5 is the best in the series, but the (Nintendo DS) version we got came with a femdom bitch nobody liked. Wish we had a proper SNES version instead.

Mother 3 and Secret of Mana 3 are still missing, too. Don't give me that "fans already translated it" shit either. I wanted a real physical copy to play on consoles. Not some online rom for PC.

You need to hand over that monkey’s paw.

The first Growlanser was really good, I don't think it was ever translated.

Here's the (sadly) never completed translation project for the game in the OP

Kumatora is a hard bull dyke raised by a bunch of faggots in the Japanese version already. What could they possibly ruin?

I play and look for a lot of Japan only games. This is a PS1 RPG that takes place in London where you play as a young orphan who joins up with some friends to do be a spirit detective. It's got fun characters, a unique setting, and a nice story to it. The battle system is nothing special but it works.

Just pay someone to translate the game for you, idiot. Are you gonna learn carpentry, when you go buy a house?

How though?

I keep looking at the Japanese learning threads, and see "JUST LEARN THE KANA DOOD", is it really just a case of brute-forcing it through repetition, using things like Realkana and Kana Invaders?

>>16223767

It's harder, but if you learn carpentry, you'll not only be able to build a house yourself, to your specifications, but could also make it a job while living in said house.

>Lord knows why it wasn't officially released

It's because it's riddled with game-breaking bugs, just check this "Sin of mana" hack and how much shit it fixed (and a lot more it didn't manage to fix), sometimes I even wonder how the game managed to run without blowing up the SNES. It would really benefit from a remake, but after seeing the SoM one, I don't know if I want it…

c9e856  No.16223845

>>16223815

There are tons of resources explaining various methods for learning, along with people explaining things in the threads all the time. Reducing all that down to "just learn it" is disingenuous. As for learning the kana, there are different tools or games that can help, but it comes down to memorization and repetition. I'd suggest writing them out by hand every day for a week or two (get a guide for proper stroke order) and learning their sounds so that you can recognize them with some consistency. You don't need to be 100% before moving on since you will be seeing them so much, but at least be comfortable with them.

Take it from someone who learned most of Japanese.

The main barrier is that it is very, very alien (to anyone with a Euro language background) and the different sentence structure will take some time getting used to.

When I say some time, I mean years before you can sit down and comfortably write a sentence about something without it sounding robotic or like it came out of a textbook.

In reality, the biggest problem that most you lads face is that you are native English speakers who probably never tried to truly learn a second language, so any bump in the road leads to massive discouragement.

A language is not something you "figure out" overnight or can grind through in X hours as if it were a game.

You also have to be persistent and not slack.

English is my second language and it took me a good while despite all the exposure to truly learn how to express myself with it.

Pretty much. It's hardest in the beginning, but then it gets much easier to continue learning.
