I have no idea how people can't see the clear differences. Older pokemon looked like animals with a fantasy twist, it made the world feel at least somewhat like an actual world. There's a reason why LGPE managed to rake in 10 million purchases despite being one of the most mechanically dead installments yet. Genwunners will lap up anything that Game Freak shits out and go "aah… the good old days :)" as long as it has Pikachu and Charizard somewhere in the mix. They pretend that they have their opinions because RBY is the most open world out of all the mainline Pokemon games (when they probably did the badges in the intended order anyway because it's a JRPG and open worlds in JRPGs are a joke) or because they prefer the designs of first gen pokemon (because preferring angry eyes lizards, glorified recolored real life animals and random shit Sugimori drew on a napkin is too subjective to refute), but really they just want to go back to a time when Pokemon was the "in" thing and they could discuss it with all of their friends. Game Freak knows this, which is why they've shoehorned something from Gen 1 into every single generation somehow, to milk their nigger cattle. LGPE was the experiment to see if they could fabricate an entire game off of nostalgia baiting with nothing else going for it and it was successful, so now future games will be further tainted as Game Freak are aware they can be even lazier with their games.
