I hope there is because the game needs a serious reset if it wants to attract new players. Considering the way the meta is, how people who play even slightly seriously follow it like gospel, and how high ranking people will forever sit on top with no chance of newcomers really gaining much ground, the game is probably dead for new people unless they join up with experienced players.

I never played ranked beyond S+0, and I usually get 1850 on a bad day and 2100 on a good day. 1750-1950 is pretty normal, especially since they'll let anybody into S+ these days. If you're not aware, your starting league score is based on your ranked MMR, so higher ranked players get a head start in league.

Splatoon has two types of players: Either absolute shit-tier trash in squid form or metafags who run circles around you. Contrary to what I just said, the group here is merely pretty good.

You lose more freshness score post-10.0, I believe than you gain. Don't worry about it with turf war. The entire game mode is a gamble.

Try everything. Don't worry about tier lists. There are so many different weapon types in the game and very few people overlap in the group. I personally like Splattershot Jr., Custom Dualie Squelchers, Tentatek SplattershotI hate inkjet, Gold Dynamo Roller, .96 Gal Deco, and Forge Splattershot Pro.

Mumble squids meet up most every night at 8 pm CST, and weekends whenever. We do tabletop stuff on Friday afternoons, but we still play Splatoon if there are enough people. You can expect somebody to be in the Mumble most any day in the evening.
Also, it's Splatfest this upcoming weekend, so we're definitely playing that come Friday night. If we have the right number of people, we can probably throw you in a group. We usually have a core 4 people on a team. If we have more, we can split up the team and have you join. It'll just fuck with the clout.

Cheers for the tips, I have been using the bloblobber but it feels too predictable and you give away your position easily while using it, I just wiped out a whole team at the start of rainmaker by firing it over the rainmakers start point but I get the feeling that won't work at higher ranks so I wanted to spice it up, hence the asking for ideas.

The main disadvantage with it is that it's completely reliant on the map and the surroundng players. It would work well if executed with the right timing to give your team the extra edge it needs to win a match (remember the short delay it has, it could make all the difference whether in a good way or bad). It's also particularly potent with weapons that require timing and situation just as much (a slow-flinging Dynamo or a slow-charging 4K wouldn't be able to keep up with you if you do enough acrobatics).
Remember that you're playing randoms, though. All it takes is an ambush or an unlucky encounter with, say, a guy using a Bamboozler with Main Power Up, and your ass is grass. Ink armor would just be another half second or so for both of those cases if you just aimlessly throw yourself into the front lines and within range. The key with Ink Armor if you end up using it most often is to always be aware of your surroundings (this also goes for Inkjet and some other specials that expose you in plain daylight). In addition, always have a backup plan set up if you end up losing it faster than anticipated. Go behind a wall, huddle with your team, or time your special with the Rainmaker shield pop and hope for the best.
Burst bomb launcher best bomb launcher, Splashdown is a disappointing yet still potent derivative of Inkstrike, and I wouldn't be caught dead using Inkjet. Oh yeah, and Toxic Mist was a mistake.

Turf war. If you're scoring higher in points, it's probably because they're looking for splats. If you're scoring higher in splats, you might be better than them. Level 20 is small potatoes. That's a week of playing. 40 and 50 isn't anything special either. Matchmaking tries to put you in a group of similarly skilled players, but often times fails at that. I've seen players over level 100 that fail to grasp the basics of the game. I don't understand why.

Yes. It's turf war. Turf war is for squid parties, practicing new weapons, and casual play. Ranked is more challenging and league is where the big squids play.

The people you are playing with might be shit. It's possible. But there are different roles you can play, and scoring in Turf War doesn't really account for that.
In Turf War you usually have:
>Squidos to charge ahead and ink as much as possible
>Squidos to focus on killing people
>Squido to stay in the back, usually sniping, and to try and stay alive after a team fight so people can quick jump to them
There is more to Splatoon than just running around painting the ground and killing people. But you are new, and level doesn't show how good you are at the game. You are probably playing with the tards who can play this game for 100 hours and still suck ass.
If you want to see the skill of people you're playing with, you have to go into Inkopolis square and check their rank levels. You can see the players you recently played with near the entrance to the lobby. Walk up to them and press "A" to see their gear and stuff. My guess is that most of the people you're playing with are not ranked, or they are A at best.
Personally, I'm only level 48 because I spent a lot of time playing Salmon Run when I first got Splatoon 2, and you don't level up doing that. But for rank I'm S+1, S+0, S, and A (forgot what ones). I'm also profreshional in Salmon Run and usually play with S+ or X rank randos there. All while being level 48.
Best way to tell if a rando is good or not is to compare their level to their rank, but even then you can have people like me that have enough hours in the game to be prestige level but spent a lot of time playing Salmon Run. I use this when I judge if randos are good or not:
high level + high rank > low level + high rank > high level + low rank > low level + low rank > low level + no rank

The goal of Turf War is to cover more ground than the enemy team. The most effective way to do that is to take their turf, as opposed to covering as much as your turf as possible. Mainly because it's better to take some away from the enemy while you simultaneously gain, instead of just adding to your turf while not taking any away. So it's more important to grab their turf and to push them back than it is to cover all the area between your base and the front lines.

This was a journey to hell and back, and I'm glad it paid off in the end. It wasn't just trying to find the right files to use, it was also getting rid of all of the other problems specific to my LayeredFS setup. I spent 3 days editing files before I realized one of my folder names had a typo and so none of my edits were showing up. Never mind that nobody who has pulled something like this had ever let any word on how to do this slip from outside their discord circlejerks so they can keep the fame all to themselves. I did, however, get help on getting a tool of the trade from a youtuber. Thanks again for the help, X111.
This took so much trial and error, it wasn't even funny. I tried approaching this from many different files. The first, seemingly most obvious one, was a .bprm (byml) with romfs directory /romfs/Param/Rival/Enm_RivalShooter.bprm. After converting it to an xml (using bymlconvert: https://github.com/CVFireDragon/BymlConvert/releases), you can see a line on there that says "Shooter_Rvl0Lv0", almost word-for-word from a file right in /romfs/Param/WeaponBullet ("Rival" in the assets pretty much means "enemy octoling"). I tried to change it to a Grizzco Weapon (Umbrella_CoopAutoAssault = Grizzco Brella). When I went into an octoling mission afterward, nothing happened. It took a while for me to probe around and find that those files seem like meaningless copies for this purpose. The game really reads from compressed files within /romfs/Pack/ for Octo Canyon. Found within there are files such as param.pack (parameter files, so weapon range/distance, camera angles, and all the other autistic numbers) and Mush.release.pack (contains byml files with details on weapons, sub weapons, etc.). I'm guessing they function similar to the Static.pack file from Splatoon 1.
These .pack files can be decompressed with SARCExtract (https://github.com/aboood40091/SARCExtract/releases) and recompressed with SARCTool (https://github.com/aboood40091/SARC-Tool/releases). I used SARCExtract with the Params.pack file and guess what - it has a params folder identical to the decompressed one. Imagine that.
I tried the same thing that I did earlier with the other .bprm file. Turns out directly trying to edit any of the Grizzco weapons into the AI results in a system-wide softlock. Not even the home button works. The only way to get out of it is holding the power button for 12 seconds. The same thing happens when you try to edit the id or name of the "Rvl" weapons in the WeaponInfo_Main.release.byml file compressed within Mush.release.pack.
The best alternative is changing the weapon parameters and in game model for the placeholder rival weapons. Turns out, you can swap out the rival weapons for other weapon types, so a Shooter can use a rival blaster weapon. Also, you can point a weapon to use a different in-game model using WeaponInfo_Main.release.byml (see 2nd pic), as well as changing weapon fire rate/distance/behavior using the param files. Using this, I was able to get most of the Grizzco Weapons. This is what I did:

Basic figure drawing fundamentals apply to squids fairly well. While the average human is around 7 1/2 heads tall and the ideal human is around 8 heads tall, inklings are about 3 to 3 1/2 heads tall. Heads are shaped more like a steamed bun, and are thusly much wider than human heads. Hands and feet are proportionally about double the size compared to human hands and have squared off fingers and toes. The figures are less pronounced, showing less curves. If you can draw a human, you can basically draw an inkling by fucking with the proportions.

I've seen this guide a dozen times, and it fails to exhibit a dynamic pose, use foreshortening, or get the proportions right in general. Inkling bodies aren't really trapeziums. Girls have a very slight hourglass figure and boys are very slightly inverse trapezium, but practically rectangular. The hands are about spot on, proportion-wise, but the feet picture are tiny.

Salmon Run forces you to use 3 of the 4 weapons every shift, but it gives you easier to kill enemies, not to mention the fact that it requires you to learn to coordinate with your teammates, lest you fail. That is, unless you're that one squidiot who gets less than 10 golden eggs, whereas the rest of the team get 25+, and you're only in fucking profreshional because the entire rest of the Grizzco staff is carrying your sorry ass through your career until you suffer an early retirement because they finally get sick of fucking retards like you putting other squids at risk.
Also, private matches with friends allows you to try new things. It's really refreshing to see people who use only one or two weapons branch out and try something new simply because they don't have to take things seriously.

That's a giant can of worms you're trying to open. Most people tell you to read Loomis, and they're not necessarily wrong. I started with the How to Draw Manga books from the early 2000s, was a terrible artist throughout college, got better, and ultimately stopped doing it because I was surrounded by people who could afford Wacom Cintiqs, Copic Markers and high quality drawing pencils, which I was doing things with an off-brand tablet and Zebra mechanical pencils.

Photoshop transparency It's a good start for somebody who doesn't know much about Splatoon. I did some quick little changes. This isn't perfect, obviously. I notice you have something of a cartoon-like style, which is fine. It generally doesn't lend especially well to Splatoon, but there are plenty of people in the community with similar styles, and they make it out okay. Don't take my changes as harsh criticism. I intend for this to be entirely constructive and I hope you continue working on your art. Also, I'm out of practice, tired, and I rushed this, so mine isn't perfect either.
So, you've got the right idea with the bun shaped head and the slender neck for sure. When drawing heads, I draw the cross lines for guides. By adding a slight curve to these guidelines, I can help establish a sense of depth to the face, provided I follow the lines properly. I've added appropriate lines, considering the angle of your squid. The ears should be horizontal and in line with the bottom half of the eyes. The hair cap needs to be wider on top. As narrow as yours is currently, your squid looks a little pin-headed. The eyes, nose, and mouth have been adjusted properly to line up with my guide lines. I applied a jaw line with a small chin on the squid's right side(your left) to accommodate for the character not quite looking directly at the viewer, and to have more of a 3/4 view. Again, this adds some depth to the drawing. I added S curves to the tentacles to make it look like it's a three dimensional object. The bangs were also given some depth. Your shoulders were uneven and choppy, so I used S curves again to soften and even them up. I fixed the teeth a little bit to make them more even. I suggest having teeth on anime and cartoon characters be a single, solid, uniform piece. Too much detail, and characters can look like they have gaps in their teeth.

It's just harder to get them. Generally, if you do well and you hit your 1200 points, your pay grade should be high enough where you get points significantly faster, so it evens out. If you barely made it at that point, you may as well wait until the next rotation. It's a good indicator if you're doing well or not.

Chargers have a higher learning curve than many other weapons in the game, mainly stemming from the really small room for error in your shots. Everything you need to know to do well with any of the chargers stems from:
>how precisely you can aim
>how well you can time charges and movements/wrist flicks (wrist flicks are mostly impractical for Salmon Run, though: they're more of a mind trick intended for ranked mode)
>how consistently you can keep the right distance from your targets
A good way to prepare yourself for using a charger in co-op is to head to target practice and get a feel for the weapon, its charge time, and its range. Also, remember that fully charged shots pierce through the regular enemies (chum/cohock/smallfry), so you can kill multiple salmonids at once by getting them all within a roughly straight line while charging your weapon.

I can't say I disagree with this. I get really frustrated when I get stomped. Last weekend in private matches, I got stomped by a particularly good rank X time and again to the point where I wasn't having fun, so I left early for the night.
