Overall I think this will be a rough year, but they have so many different income streams that it won't kill them. It might make them rethink how they do AAA titles hopefully. Honestly I don't understand why both EA and Ubisoft thought chasing Destiny was a good idea. But anyway, The Sims 4 expansion packs are still selling very well along with the stuff packs. And all the mobile games in the various app stores make tons of money for EA along with all of their sports games. Even if sports games have been trending down overall sales-wise the whales will more than make up for any lost Revenue. And that could also be true for Anthem in the long run. They really don't need the game to be a major runaway success if they can just get a few hundred thousand players that pump cash regularly into the game for the next 3 years.

And a few flops isn't going to hurt them in the long run. EA are the masters of serving people shit and making them come back for another helping. If anything, this is probably just the nail in the coffin for Bioware before they get shifted to mobileshit and finally shuttered. At the very least, EA will survive on it's yearly sportsball titles like it always does.

Unfortunately they somehow managed to get a nice slice of that fortenite pie with apex legends. If they're making a good percentage of that pie that's more than enough to keep them afloat.

Remember when GG revealed that lots of journalists have friends that work at EA so they tend to inflate the scores of their games to help their "bodies" along with trying to bury a major credit card and identity theft story that would have hurt some of the "poor people" working at EA? (EA had unsecured Payment Processing on all of their games for several years, when this was discovered game journalist did everything they could to bury the story for months even though people should have been alerted to change their passwords and credit card information.)

I actually have gotten to play Anthem already thanks to subscribing to access

All I can say is Anthem plays like Lost planet 2 but a lot clunkier and more gimmicky. I wanted to like it, but ended up shrugging it off. The game isn't long, the grinding is less satisfying than Destiny 2 and the gunplay is just "okay". I like actually upgrading your armor, but getting what you want takes forever and it just doesn't feel like its worth spending 3 hours grinding for something that honestly is fun to use just once. It just doesn't feel complete. Also the story is super generic.

I can almost guarentee they're going to sell DLC to "fix" all these issues.

Likely using the school grading system where 70 is average and mediocre which anthem is. Even if it fixes the bugs which the "day one" patch seems to, the core game is still fundamentally average at best. For something that was in development before the first Destiny released, it certainly made the same mistakes as Destiny in many ways.

They got 25 million players in a week and if a number of those are children and they stick with the game it's going to be a lot of money long term. Bear in mind children atm are spending hundreds of dollars of their parents money on fortenite if not thousands and you compound real whales on top of that it could easily be generating hundreds of millions of dollars.
