Jagg is one of the beta Pokemon we KNOW was legitimate, it's been revealed in official sources showing off the early designs.
Also I wanna make a correction. Apparently the assets given to the team weren't just beta Green. They were apparently a range of assets from the first part of Capumon up to beta-Blue. The collector has multiple prototypes that could be used to piece together the development of Pokemon Gen 1.

The way they introduced this information was a complete shitshow, but I'm glad we got the information at least. As for the actual Pokemon involved here, I always thought Gyaoon/Gyarth/whatever looked a lot like the generic kaiju Pokemon party sprite and substitute doll, not surprised the pre-evo looks even more like the substitute doll. I am surprised a few of the Spaceworld pre-evos were originally planned for Gen 1, but I'm also not surprised Kotora was included as it showed up in blurry photographic evidence (I still want to see that episode of Game Center CX in high quality so we can confirm the legitimacy of these even more). I'm also surprised it actually has an evolution. We've almost solved the mysteries of Gen 1 completely, but the last few mysteries (why are there duplicate backsprites, what are the last few Missingo, actual fucking front sprites and not fanmade shit) will probably be solved in enough time, one way or another.

Collectors are the ideal state of a "gamer" for the modern gaming landscape. Tries to buy everything within, and outside the game relating to it, not to play or have FUN, but to have it and show it off, as free advertising. The only thing close to collected I have is just keeping around my games and consoles from the 6th and 7th generations since I dont have anything newer.
For the topic on hand, I like the look of the squid and deer pokemon. I'm guessing the assumption is that gamefreak had pre-planned out a list of pokemon, programmed most of them and had sprites, but decided to downscale.

If you actually looked at the image (and possibly read the previous articles) it seems like there were a few distinct "periods" where different Pokemon were created with different design philosophies in mind. The few bits of evidence for this are a large set of Pokemon being designed for the Capsule Monsters pitch, the Satoshi Tajiri manga showing only a few Pokemon up for review during the polls (which might not even be evidence given how some Capsule Monster era Pokemon showed up on the poll anyway), and how if you go by index number you can see which Pokemon were designed by which artist almost lines up with different periods. For the record, this is the current most accurate record of who designed what Pokemon.

Jagg, for instance, was probably rebuilt into that Shark-anchor for Beta-Gold which still didn't make the cut, and eventually became Sharpedo in Gen 3.

Two bits from USUM I like are the Battle Agency, which is just the fucking Battle Factory but relies on online interaction which just proves to me that Masuda is right that nobody plays them because I can't fucking progress (although starting a year late doesn't really help, especially when it only works with USUM players) and I don't know if he wanted it but he allowed a lot of nice little touches to flesh out the world. What I mean is, there are a few optional cut-scenes where Pokemon do what the Pokedex says they do (although it's limited because the fucking in game cutscenes seem tacked on in general), had a few Pokemon walking around the overworld (the best thing since random cries making me think I'm crazy in RSE), and a lot of little extra side quests spread through the game (including another dead old guy side quest like in Gen 5 and old people being depressing like regular SM, I have a feeling whoever came up with these scenarios is the same guy). I also like Hau's character development in USUM as compared to SM, it really sells the reversed Red/Blue dynamic better. Honestly I cared about USUM Hau more than I did SM Lillie or Lusamine despite them being the main focus of the plot. Who would have known the real jerk rival was inside us all along? As for James Turner, I dunno if he's really the best at that sort of thing. I like the guy in general, and his work at Genius Sonority seemed fine (although who the fuck ruined Crobat and didn't notice I want them fired twice) but having an artist direct a game is almost as bad as having a musician direct one. If we're going to have an untested guy direct a game, even a third version, I'd rather see Kōji Nishino direct one. For those who don't know, he's mostly a map designer, but he stopped doing that after Gen 5 finished and the maps have gotten worse (although Gen 7 is less bad and more "we have no idea what we're doing" so I have hopes that they could make it not suck in theory). Now he's mostly a Battle Planner. Also, he's Snorlax. Like, they made a Pokemon based off him, the absolute madmen. Personally, if I had to say how I feel about Gen 8, I don't have any hopes aside from maybe seeing if it's less terrible. Gen 7 was a little less bad than Gen 6 (and would have been more less bad if it wasn't bad in different ways) and Ohmori seems better at directing new games than remakes, so I'm cautiously pirating Gen 8. I don't have any hope that the games will be really good again until Gen 10, and that's only if they're on a good track and there's not another paradigm shift to set them back several years.

You know I've been thinking about this situation, and a few things don't add up. In the first place, the original Spaceworld 97 demo for GS that leaked wasn't actually a rom dump, it was a thing where you could build your own builds of it. Secondly, this leak shows several points in development, not to mention a beta Mew sprite from Blue. Thirdly, the fact that there's only back-sprites and trainer data suggests almost no unused Pokemon were used at the time reminds me of the Sun and Moon demo, where GF learned from the ORAS demo leaks and tried to scrub everything but instead forgot to delete pictures of every single new Pokemon in Sun and Moon. I don't think there's a ROM, and neither does the guy who has the most convincing statement on Spaceworld.

I'm convinced that there's more than a ROM here, some people have somehow gotten a hold of actual files from Game Freak. It could really be anybody, from a Japanese collector to a disgruntled person who worked on the translation and was given fucking everything somehow. I have no real idea.

There was a post that illustrated the difference between an actual collector (the words used were 'noble buyfag'), a greedy reseller, and a (((collector))), and if I'm remembering the cap correctly there was a lengthy description on what lengths (((collectors))) go to to protect their (((investments))). I don't remember whether or not the post had links to articles, but I do remember that being explicitly mentioned. Honestly any thread on /v/ that involves buyfagging, or game preservation should have that image as post #1 every fucking time.

collectors are fucking retarded tbh.
i used to live near an area with a lot of knockoff goods which i'd used to scam collectorfags with.
only two real interesting things happened: at one point i'd found a leafgreen knockoff that had some edited routes and had added mewtwo to giovanni's gym roster. i replaced the knockoff case with a real leafgreen case and pulled the 'ol "my dad works for nintendo" shit with some fag from craigslist. i walked off with his CFW'd psp and $100.
the other interesting thing is when i found two legit MTG beta packs and opened them because i thought they were fake
