I kind of get where you're coming from, I couldn't play Shinobido 2 because the whole thing reeked of low-tier anime. I don't have a problem with bona-fide classics like Ninja Gaiden or Shinobi because I'm not a faggot with retarded expectations, but we're definitely overdue for a 3D ninja stealth game.
Ninja movies kind of got the short end of the stick too, I can't think of any good ones. 80's made ninjas passé while barely even working with what made them cool to begin with, turned them into generic badguys.

You kill maybe 3 people over the course of your life and spend years trying to look very unimportant. Your intense combat mechanics are based around finding someone alone and stabbing them as many times as you can before leaving. You spend the rest of your life in an office job with an inexplicable amount of savings in cash. Tenchu is not even slightly realistic and it makes me question what you actually think reality is.
If you're making something about Ninja and it's not a historical work, there's just too many cool things that pop-culture attached to them over the decades to not use them. If they don't turn into logs when hit, fly on kites or duplicate themselves, why use Ninja at all? It's not like they were the only kind of Japanese historical assassins. Break some new ground and make something about a warrior monk instead.

Japanese seem to have disdain for mundanity, hence why most of their entertainment at least attempts to be stylish. Baka Gaijin can enjoy Japanese mundanity because it's foreign, which makes it interesting. I think Ghost of Tsushima might be a game you'd like. If it's anything like what I hope it'll be, it's going to be a stealth game set in japan; it's going to be open world with NO waypoint markers (get rekt bethesda cunts), and if you're a filthy weeb, you can set all the audio to slant-eye with eng subtitles. The downside is that all of this is advertising, and most game devs/distrib are full of shit now, so I can only hope it's as decent as it looks.
