Any idea why I can't get STALKER SoC to work to save my life? I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice, deleted all instances of user.ltx and revalidated the files twice, and xr_3da still crashes when I try loading a save game or starting a new game

Try creating a shortcut to the .exe and adding '-skip_reg' to the path. I have to do that to get certain mods like CoC to work, not sure if it'll work on the base game.

No shit, this game can run on the worst toasters on sale nowadays that are at least equipped with a GPU, I could run this game on a 256mb Geforce 7600 GT on normal high-ish graphic settings in 2007 (had shitload of graphic artifacts tho).

Have you tried running Call of Chernobyl yet? Run either the stable 1.4.22 or the beta 1.5r7.
