I'm considering hosting a Killing Floor 1 server to try and host an impromptu game night. Obviously, no one really wants to use steam or give money to Tripwire. What would be a good crack to use for multiplayer so that anons can easily download and play, while also allowing for the use of mutators? That's what I think, but I want to be able to do some testing to see how well the mod works in multiplayer. It adds some new variants that I think add some new depth to the game. There are 12 new zeds in total, some good, some more annoying. One of them is called the Shiver, which is like a stalker but instead of cloaking, it can teleport. The idea is that it forces you to manage the zeds a bit differently, since he can pop up on your flank or in your face unexpectedly. There's also an improved version of the crawler called the arachnid which can crawl on walls and ceilings. Some of the others are just "amped up" versions of the regular zeds. For example, there's the goreshank, which is just a gorefast that is stronger and faster. I don't think it adds much depth to the gameplay, but it will definitely make the game harder. I think I can download each zed individually if I want to, so I should be able to remove any of the zeds that are more annoying than they are challenging.

I've updated my MUGEN upload. now the 18+ content is on a separate folder.
Also, on my GunZ upload, i've added the first 2 GunZ 2 Closed Beta clients. There is no way to host them so far, i just downloaded them to make use of the sounds. I've also added some modeling and mapping tools for GZ1. For sanity's sake, do not attempt to make outdoor maps.

Depends if your processor is strong at single thread or not. If you have a decent videocard, OpenGL will sometimes be better depending on the map. Generally, software is faster on older hardware or really fast CPUs, but tanks faster than OGL if there's too many monsters on a map unless you're using PrBoom based sourceports. OGL is faster and has more features on newer hardware and fully utilizes your graphics card, but can tank in performance if the map or mod uses too many effects.
Don't use GZDoom though, the G doesn't stand for GL and it doesn't have a real Software renderer, it emulates one through OGL because the developer thought that was a good idea. Don't ask me why they did that, half the people i've asked have told me he was either retarded or just din't know better. I recommend using LZDoom or GLOOME. Both are compatible with modern ZDoom mods.

The strong part of the story was the mc surviving in the ruthless dungeon and her mental monologues and dealing with everything. Her relationship with the Observation skill for example was hilarious.
But then she turns human, leaves the dungeon, starts hanging out with people so instead of her running mental commentary we get her awkward social interactions and then finally she loses her skills because she ascends or whatever. Also, the entire gods and pantheon bullshit with heresy and whatnot is complete shit and that plot thread should have been aborted with a shotgun.
For a story I started to read in hopes of an arachne waifu, by the time she turns arachne I just wanted her to go back to being a spider. Also, she doesn't stay in her arachne form either, rather turning into a white-skinned and haired normal-ish human.
So literally fuck that story after she leaves the dungeon. Complete fucking waste of time after that.

Window size is resolution, or at least that's how the game partially treats it. If you play windowed you can just pick any resolution and expand the window itself and it'll attempt to auto-adjust while internally keeping the selected resolution. You might just want to pick a 16:9-derivate resolution on fullscreen for simplicity's sake, considering the kind of screens that are popular nowadays.

That's what >>16088328 said about LZDoom too. Only things I've heard of, on the surface, are the defunct ZDoom, GZDoom, and Zandronum. You could make up any amount of letters + the word 'Doom' smooshed together with it, and it would sound legit. I understand people like to make their own forks, but I'm not entirely concerned about render quality unless it gives me the middle finger.
The only issue I've found was in Hellshots Golf's first course, where if you look at the bottom of the map, the graphics stretch, ghost, and duplicate like you would see going out of bounds in Garry's Mod. I don't know the technical term for that, but regardless, that's the only issue I've had graphically using softpoly. Being on OpenGL or Direct3D hasn't made a difference. Yes, having a shit-ton of sprites on screen at once is gonna slow my computer down, but that happens to any computer.
