Ended up being really disappointing. Translation issues aside, it's just not very well written and the way it's structured means that 90% of the content is basically just filler with no real weight and nothing memorable. And then there's the problem of the two best girls not getting routes, Maya and Eri were head and shoulders above the other girls in terms of likeablilty and actually having personalities instead of being caricatures, but neither of them get routes. Yet they both somehow have more romantic/bonding type scenes than any of the girls you can actually romance, which again leads players to care more about them than the main heroines.

It's a real shame because there were a lot of things I liked about it. The art and voice acting are both great, there's some decent humor here and there, and Maya is love. But those can't counterbalance the problem of the writing being so lackluster.

There are 2 Vns I went through, Shinto theme set in the Kyoto area. Everything was shinto, legends, shirine maidens, holy weapons all that jazz. All set in Japan. Very Japanese. The 'bad' guy was also a japanese monster and had dogs and stuff from Shinto mythology.

Turns out, he was acting on behalf of Yggdrasil and it ends with our heroines protecting the world tree. That sudden shift to Norse at the end was pretty BS. I was pissed.

It's not that western artists always have to be bad. Crimson grey is a really good example of a vn (made in the west) that has pretty good art and a pretty good story for a vn (although it's far too short tbh). I think the fundamental problem with visual novels in the west, is that they almost always rely on self taught artists instead of people who look up tutorials and learn from example. It's not that they can't be great, it's that they aren't because of incompitence. I also think that (in the west) all the wrong people are being promoted as "high art", while the people that actually are doing so, are underappreciated and for the most part unknown. Talking about DRM, It was a pain in the arse to get Hinasawa Tomoka no Zettai Joousei (pics related) to work. Even with jap locale, which I never turn off, it needed the isos to be mounted even when it had been installed via extracting the files. And only occasionally works when hitting cancel on the "whittu piggu get out" warnings with 2 discs mounted.

Currently there is a great example of Hentai Logic vs …not that so much. You see there was a game called Kustujoku/Humiliation made a year or two ago. In it a very spiteful entitled protagonist gained the power to control people's bodies with his mind and set about raping the girls in his school. Most anons in these threads hated it. Why?

The overall theme was about fear. The girls never mind-broke until the very end where they showed symptoms of Stockholm Syndrome, having given up of ever being free of that faggot that cruel protagonist who got off to sexually using them as dolls.

Conversely there was a game from Bishop's hayday known as Sansha Mendan wherein the protagonist is a serial rapist with his half-sister as his accomplice. He, too, goes around raping girls but this time the context is utterly different. It focuses not on fear but pleasure and the writing is perhaps the most witty and funny of anything Bishop ever produced. Such examples are:
