Armageddon was a mess, all characters fought the same, konquest was beyond shit and the only good feature is the fact that every playable character in mortal kombat till then was playable although makes no difference since all of them play the same.

No. MK9 was a Reboot of MK 1 through 3 and it was pretty well done, with changes where it should change, since MK story was never the best thing around, MK9 manage to make a good story out of the first 3 games.
The problem was when MKX came out. It changed aesthetically, looking worse, brought back the dead characters from MK9 for some reason and it was a retold of MK4 of sorts. Also, they introduced "Kombat Kids", something nobody asked for, which is basically the offsprings from popular fighters after MK9, like Cassie Cage, one of the most annoying cunts ever, that missed the point of Johnny Cage in MK9.
I'm completely sure MK11 will be just as bad, and after the reveal, I'm more than convinced. Which is a shame, MK9 was just perfect.

Only watching the reveal part of the show, it was standard stuff. Nothing revolutionary shown but basic shuffle around of gameplay mechanics. Separating enhanced attacks to defensive and offensive meters. X-ray attacks were always an comeback mechanic but now it seems limited to your health and called Fatal Blow. I have a problem with that a little since it has the potential for see-saw wins. If it does 35% damage and puts your opponent in fatal blow mode, then they have an immediate counter ready. Even if they miss the first time, it can come back after a little cooldown so they can turtle and hope the chip damage isn't too bad to win. A lot of customization added from their previous games, even outside of MK in here. Looks like level up and attributes were added as well for online mode. They added a perfect parry system which have been in other fighting games before. Nothing really that new shown for a fighting game but a little new for MK games.
A lot of PR showcasing like Ronda Rousey as the voice of Sonya Blade. I honestly couldn't tell from the voice alone and I only know her as getting pummeled in her debut at UFC and having to run to fake fighting with wrestling. They showcased the collectors edition which a lot of people cheered for. How little people forget the Fallout 76 controversy but they did show the actual scorpion head display so they must have payed the company who made it well. Geras seems like a Zasalamel with all the broken abilities of the other MK favorites combined into time and sand. If they wanted a time character, I thought they would have used the time chick they were advertising the game for. I had to rewind and check but the texture for characters, especially Baraka looked not that great. Muddy and dark flesh that I thought my video buffered but it was the actual texture from the video feed. I didn't like the Muslim Red Riding Hood of Scarlet but they showed a better bodysuit version later which looked better. Very worried they won't even make female costume variants who have been known to shown a little more breast in previous games. I feel they might continue their "realistic" approach for MK where it's possible to rip someones face off and heal fatal wounds until its time to be fatalities. Just seems hypocritical to be able to shown such grand displays of violence but a little breast or thigh is too much for "some" people.
I only other interesting thing I saw was someone that looked like mark at the start of the reveal section of MK11 and a pink haired commentator in the pro match displays which I won't be watching.

So I guess I missed this but that Chronika was revealed as the final boss of the game. The way he hyped a female final boss in that clip gave me a sense of where his priorities were. It's not like we haven't had a female final boss in Virtua Fighter called Dural or something… oh wait.
Fighting alternate versions of the same character seems interesting but it reminds me of why they did the time travel in the first place when they went back to 9 and redid 1-3. It might be me but I thought they were going to rewrite and rework the bad early MK games and modernize it to fix those issues which means doing the storylines of 4-8 again and then we can diverge forward after that. Then with 10, they just skipped past the Shinook arc and just did this legacy children characters thing. I wouldn't have mind if they were actually good characters and not redundant with their source move-set characters also taking up a roster.
Even if they have already introduced time travel before, this feels like a way to keep themselves within the "good" Mk universe without progressing it forward. I could be wrong but that doesn't seem to be that far off a tactic since comic books have done that for years. Reboot or prequel something until you get the good one the fans acknowledge.

From a gameplay standpoint you can look at it this way
MKX was focused less on high damage, short combos and more on flashy, long juggling combos. But more to the point, the game as a whole really wanted to generate hype through animations. Fatalities are SUUUPER GORIER now and so are xray specials.
I know I did not present my arguement clearly so look at any of the MK11 matches and notice how fucking long and overdrawn the grab animations are, or how the crushing blows serves nothing but an OOOOO moments for those idiots who see bones break and think WOW SO EPIC and how Fatal Moves are just Tekken's Rage arts but stretched out to absurd lengths for the above reason. It feels like more a vehicle for flashy animations than a fighting game and since Injustice, no since MK9's Xray moves it has felt like more and more the focus of why they even make games.
Just make a cuhrayzee game starring sub zero or scorpion, problem solved.

I miss Shaolin Monks. Felt like it wasn't that long ago but it came out in 2005 and now I feel old. Doubtful we'll ever see another game like that that is different from the usual MK fighter releases. Especially under WB since all they've been doing is fighters for MK and DC. I wouldn't be surprised if they did a WWE fighter since they have ties with them. I know they did WWE immortal but like a substantial one that played similar to what they dish out now or try again with a 3D movement fighter.
I used to dream of working for Midway and then Netherrealms when that company went down but I've let go of that a long time ago. I'm sure a stable income would be nice but I'd rather work for a company that has more creative potential than Netherrealms which seems pigeonholed. They might be making a ton of money but they seem creatively dead to me. They'll be stuck making standar MK fighters and licensed fighters until either them or WB fucks up.

Well, since I'm a masochist at seeming a franchise I like before get changed into something I don't recognize, I looked at recent tower of time gameplay with sub-zero by some guy named Dynasty. Nitara might be in the game since it mentions her in one of the towers that her blood could be useful for this. Could be in name only but since she's one of the few characters that people like from MK4, I wouldn't be surprised if she is announced soon.
You can tag up to 10 moves to display on your screen but it's so small and in the middle of your health bar side, I wondered why they chose an odd way to display combat moves on screen. Then I noticed that each combo, each counter and anything fight tech named has it's own pop-up on your far players left or right side. Why they chose to have your tagged moves not be placed on your far players side and have the display combos and counters that last up to 2 seconds in the middle or appearing under your health bar is just a weird design decision to me.
Looking at the meters for offense and defense I noticed something. Defense moves seem to be for the weapons laying around you can pick up and counter attack with. There might have been mini-x-ray applications to the weapons since I've seen powerful one strike weapon attacks that go into x-ray for a split second. Unsure of the conditions for that at this point so I can't say for sure. Defense meters follow a weird recovery speed that lasts ups to 3-4 seconds by going slow then just filling up quickly for 1 bar. I was sure it lasted 10 seconds in real time but upon going back and forth I found the oddity. It wasn't an item you use to do it with Konsumables. It has to do with a particular move. Seems no matter what, you'll recover at the same speed for defensive moves. There might have been an attack move that used meter but I might have missed it in the video so I can say if its similar or not.
There is a move in the game that uses both offensive and defensive meters bars and it's a get-up move. A counterattack you can do when you land on your back and this is what that 10 second meter fill was from when I first noticed it. I'm not sure how functional this will be since it is a close move (at least for what was shown for sub-zero with a roundhouse kick). The game already had a see-saw combat win condition with fatal blows but the get-up counter seems to drive home more hit and run tactics to the gameplay. I'd really have to play it for myself but it has elements of casual gameplay and complexity where I don't know if they themselves understand the application of it. Does a get-up move seem like a good fit for MK (about 7:36 in the video)? I feel its already encouraging jump-in and back away tactics so as not to give your opponent an advantage with fatal blow. Your health managing yourself and your opponent so you can take advantage of fatal blows and your opponent is put within a combo where they can't abuse the fatal blows. There is a possibility of players just taking the hits so they can use their fatal blows quicker if they are evenly matched. I might be wrong when the game comes out but that is what the mechanics of the game are telling me.

Either they should've stuck with the Tarkatan needlemouth, or had a freaky false lower face that splits along the side and unhinges to reveal said needlemouth with a Glasgow slit visible in the cheeks. Other concept art for outfits has her with full human cheeks but with visible needleteeth, and although that'd risk cribbing Nitara's look if you ask me, still would've been better than what we got.
They actively went out of their way to pick the worst design. It breaks tradition, doesn't look very good, and doesn't make sense from a musculature standpoint; what's going on under the hood that she can still purse her lips and make expressions as if she still had cheeks? What makes the corners of her lips magically keep synchronized near-contact with zero conventional supporting structure? If the structure is more cartilaginous than fleshy to keep its shape unsupported, then it shouldn't be able to flex like it does. There's nowhere for muscles to effectively run and keep tension nor impose it in the first place.
Maybe there are exotic, pointlessly complex biological explanations for how Shang Tsung would've done it, but why'd he choose to go down the worst middleroad for her face? Did he just feel like a dick that day? Wanted to see if he could make the least efficient option work, just for the craft? Out of universe, maybe they wanted to be lazy and use a normal face rig for animation instead of putting in extra work for an arrangement like Reptile's extra wide mouth, but who knows.

So I guess I got the impression wrong of fatal blows. They can only be done per match, not per round. If it misses it refills; if it hits, you can't do it anymore. So it's kind of like a limited comeback mechanic or something to force a tie almost like a second wind mechanic because that is where it would be most effective. The refill seems fast for fatal blow at 5 seconds if you whiff and it seems you can stuff it but wouldn't that encourage turtling until it refills? This seems like the anti-thesis of other fighting games where you built meter for supers. It's like its taking its approach from marvel vs capcom but you can only do it once a match. The more I look into the game, the lamer its starting to become.

Having seen gameplay, can I just say how retarded it is that X-ray moves (animation wise) are now just mid-match fatalities? In previous games there'd at least be some distinction, but now it's literally just like watching a fatality without damage being applied to the model.

I'm on board with most people when i say the shitty nigger "music" for the trailer was a terrible choice. The hype for this game could have been so much bigger if they used the original MK theme from the first movie, or MK Armageddon; the classic MK theme every body knows and remembers. Also, them deciding to add gear and armor sets is fucking retarted. Why not just stick with bonus skins you can unlock in-game for doing challenges or completing things, or even just playing a certain amount of time with each fighter. It would be nice if your favorite fighter (Sub-Zero for this example) could unlock a classic MK1 skin just by playing as him for a fixed amount of hours, or a certain amount of fatalities with him. But, they add this gear system to get more shekels. Also, they better have a massive fucking roster this time. Perhaps have a special game mode where after you beat the story on the hardest difficutly, you unlock a special roster that has pretty much every fighter from past games? Just a few of my ideas.

This is actually what the new "Krushing Blow" mechanic is around, though only ONE group actually managed to figure out what the fuck it's about, and it is actually about timing your meter usage. Basically:
>Scorpion has one where if you catch your opponent mid-move with an uppercut, it activates and does extra damage
>it will only active ONCE per match, so even if you catch the opponent mid-action with the uppercut, you only get ONE Krushing Blow
They are activated akin to brutalities and only will kick in once. There is also an option to switch it so that, if you wanted to end a combo with a Krushing Blow, you have to hold the attack input button in case you wanted to, say, do two grabs mid-combo, but because you're punishing and it's going to activate the krushing blow on the firstgrab and you want it to activate on the second, if you enable the option to hold the button, you won't activate it during the first grab if you don't hold the button down.

The problem is just that Mk11's look like shit. Sonya looks just like a worse version then she did in MKX, and Skarlet doesn't even look like a ninja, but some sort of super heavily clothed star wars desert assassin character or some shit.
In generall all of the costumes so far look super futuristic and almost more like Injustice/modern capeshit designs then Mortal Kombat ones, which is something nobody else seems to have noticed: Compare how Raiden and SUb-Zero look in Injustice 2 to how the character designs in general look here, it's almost the exact same visual style.
