I bought a 1tb hdd some time ago and started gathering games. Once I start one I usually forget which one I played last because it's not really organized. I even tried to keep logs but it's pretty hard.

Last time I tried to reorganize my game folders by genre to see if that could make the visualization better, but it didn't really work. So how do you faggots so to organize your games?

There's exactly one way I've found that works for me, but it sounds really fucking weird to most people. I sort digital games not by genre, or dev, or budget, but by their age.

The era of a game's release says a lot about it and what it will be like to play, more so than the genre a lot of the time. I see Deus Ex as being more similar to System Shock 2 than it is to something like Dishonored, so DX and SS2 go in the same category. Emulated games are just grouped by console, which works the same way most of the time. Let me illustrate my point here:

If you wanna play a PS2 game you know what you're getting into. Clunky menus, charming mid-poly graphics, low resolution, certain game design philosophies, etc. Likewise, PC games from 2000-2005 have really similar things in common. It's worth a try, and really puts into perspective the trajectory of the games industry at large. Maybe you'll even get over your fear of the year 2007 as you realize how many great games have released since then.

I have a folder on my two externals called "Video Games". I throw all of them in there. How is this a worthy thread.

Anon.

I don't ever feel the need to organize my installed games.

For collections, yes, I just organize them by platform.

You should seriously install only the games you're currently playing so you don't have to deal with that, it also helps in solving those backlog problems.

You can do all sorts of shit. A single fo

lder with a text file containing "name date genre notes description" per line. Or a text file within each game folder containing all that and more. When I really work on stuff, in each project folder, I have separate text files for status, notes, current task.

Why OP.

Castlevania Fighter is pretty fun though.

Doesn't everyone sort their games by franchise?

If i wanted to play blue shift on my rig, for example.

>games\half life\blue shift\blueshift.exe

Whereas if I wanted to play half life 2

>games\half life\half life 2\hl2.exe

This sounds like a good idea, but it'd be hard to sort using windows tools alone.

>Download fortnite

>Game is shit

>Don't play it again

Since I got more space, a lot more, I don't tend to delete games as often, even if they are shit sorry, though.

>>15994394

That's what I used to do, but that shit is not practical once you have a shit ton of game and you keep forgetting what you should play, nigger, that's the issue.

>>15994433

That's what I meant when I tried to keep the log. But then I just opened my game's folder and stare at the shit tons of games, undecided what to play again.

>>15994447

Out of all ASSFAGGOTS, I think HotS was the most decent onePlus I was a huge fan of Warcraft 3Never ever, though.

>>15994620

I thought about this solution, I have my Warhammer 40k games sorted that way, but I don't have enough franchises, and I'd end with folders with literally 1 shortcut because it isn't a franchise.
