The thing that made Dino Crisis unique was that it took the dinosaur idea and DIDN'T make it an action game, but a horror game. A horror game made all the more horrifying in that the creatures attacking you were real, not something made in a back room or a human with ugly facepaint. It also helped that the creatures were usually fast, meaning getting caught and you're dead.
The main issue with Dino Crisis was relying on the time travel point, which soon rendered the dinosaurs into the back seat and the time vortex being a much more important plot point.
I still stress that the best "revival" of dino crisis would be of being some random no-name bastard on Site A, or some unfortunate bastard on site B after all the heroes are long gone and you try to find your way off of an island with a shitload of creatures that can kill you.
