I know some series got black sheep and dolts wondering if Yakuza is the same. Got a bit to cover but mainly just want a general story if something strays a bit from it I might just skip it that's all.

You're going to get the same amount of enjoyment either way.

Zero has some little easter eggs and nod to shit in other games, but if you start with zero and then play kiwami 1 and 2 you'll get the same amount of enjoyment as someone who played them in chronological order.

realistic art style with slightly exaggerated faces that probably work well with the algorithm it uses. It meets all the requirements and having such strongly defined features in its exaggeration helps it come together.

Do the other games past 2 emulate well?

I only played the first yakuza game and didn't even finish it.Gameplay felt off and some sidequests were… not that fun.

Gameplay improves with each iteration. And Yakuza is less about GTA shenanigans and more just crime drama. Kiryu is a bad yakuza, which is pretty much the entire point of the games.

So far i'v played PS2 Yakuza 1 and 2, and 0. but to me Yakuza seems similar to DMC in the way that you can play the games in whatever order and not really be that lost, but it's much more rewarding to know the history of the series.

Yakuza 0 was definitely a better experience due to me having played Yakuza 1 and 2 first.

Kiwami 1 and 2 i'm sure are great, but I'd still recommend playing the original versions of 1 and 2 first since those are how those stories were intended to be experienced. Kiwami while having the benefit of the Majima anywhere system that clearly adds allot more content to the game, it also messes with the flow of the narrative since in Yakuza 1, Majima is meant to be allot more threatening and mysterious, but in Kiwami Majima anywhere portrays him as super silly so he's just inconsistent.

Also Kiwami 2 had to cut out the entire 3rd area you got to visit due to development reasons, some cutsenes don't take place in the same locations anymore due to this, and one really great cutscene was absolutely butchered in Kiwami 2 due to a music change, due to licencing I think.

Always release order. Games are released with the expectation that you've played the ones that came out previously.

release order is ideal but now you have a new path option of chronological order of

0 > kiwami > kiwami 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6

BUT the issue with this is kiwami 2 is a more refined version of the 6 engine, and each game made lots of QOL changes so going through reverse order could be a bit of a drag hitting 3 and 4 that are a little wonky at times

The 30 FPS is also worth mentioning. If you can emulate Yakuza 2 at a stable 60 FPS then I think it's worth considering, even with all the improvements.

Well the reason they don't translate as well is just due to the nature of how overpowered Kiryu gets in Kiwami 2 compared to the original 2 and the fact that most boss movesets are just repurposed movesets of other characters from the series from the old engine, so they don't work as they're supposed to in the new one, even the few original movesets don't work as well, which is evident in Ryuji. In the original you really had to fight slowly and methodically as he would just counterattack as soon as you'd hit him and he'd have super armor as he counterattacked, so you couldn't just go all out on him that is unless you were really good at doing tiger drops so you could just tiger drop him as he counterattacked over and over again, but for that at least you needed a good sense of timing. In Kiwami 2 you can just pop your autistic rage mode and go to town, Ryuji still has counterattacks with superarmor but if you're in autistic rage mode it flat out IGNORES Ryuji's superarmor.

Also the real reason why the scene where Kiryu gets stabbed is completely ruined isn't really the gay autotuned pap they put as a replacement for the CKB track, the scene in Kiwami 2 would serve its purpose just fine if the didn't completely ruin the fucking suspense of the scene by adding that FUCKING STUPID stabbing sound effect.
