If you're trying to find the beach on a small island, walking in circles in the dense jungle is not an effective strategy. But the problem is its hard to navigate in a straight line without lots of visual cues. If you blindfold people and tell them to walk in a perfectly straight line they go in all sorts of crazy patterns without realizing.

The big problems for female groups on these desert island programs come when they have to build a camp and divide up the tasks. In a group of men and women, men would naturally assume all the physically demanding tasks. Women of course are more valued because they give birth to children.

If there is no men sharing those out always causes a huge rift in the women. The ones that do more work hate the others and feel like a martyr. The ones that dont work much view the others as domineering and showing off.
