To be fair, fallout threads are extremely prone to misinformation from people who haven't played them, so I'd take anything said by someone who admits to not playing it with a grain of salt. There are still plenty of people on /v/ who believe that the fake "nuke the commonwealth or kill your son" ending was the real ending of fallout 4, for example, because they see it parroted on /v/ all the time and never played the game themselves, so they've never seen how much more retarded the real ending is.

Basically, the game is made up of a bunch of gigantic battles. The first one in the vault is pretty fun, but the ones following that are clusterfucks that are fucking awful to play. The part that made me put it down after i finished it once was the bit after you first enter fort dagger point where you meet the super mutants. The escape sequence there is fucking ass, no fun at all to play. Some of the ideas were neat, but overall i found the experience to be pretty dull. It was nice that they dropped the dream sequence in the beginning, since that was my least favorite part of the original version.

Not really. He dies of natural causes in every ending, but in the BoS/Railroad/Minutemen ending (all three of them share the same ending) you blow up the Institute afterwards. Blowing up the Institute is extremely retarded for BoS or Railroad, and only makes any sense for Minutemen. Railroad destroying the place synths are made damns all remaining synths to be the last of their kind and makes it impossible for them to ever create more synths. It would be the equivalent of a BLM activist demanding all blacks be sterilized to prevent any more blacks from ever being born, or /pol/ demanding all white men get castrated so that no more pure white babies could ever be born - it's the exact fucking opposite of what they would realistically be trying to do, and I have no idea how the fuck Bethesda somehow thought that would be a good idea. BoS destroying the Institute without trying to salvage or preserve any of their non-synth related technology is retarded, because the BoS is all about the preservation of technology, not about destroying massive amounts of technology just because one thing on a massive list triggers them. Regardless, you don't nuke the Commonwealth, it only destroys the ruins of CIT (the Fallout world's equivalent of MIT). In the Institute ending you blow up the BoS airship and kill all the Railroad members then your son dies of natural causes.
The BoS does stockpile a shitload of nukes for Liberty Prime (stated to be the same types of nukes bomber planes would be dropping, so probably much stronger than the bombs it used in Fallout 3), and does sling them at random raiders and anything else they run into in downtown Boston on their march to CIT, so I guess in the BoS route you technically nuke a few streets in the Commonwealth, but there are no lasting effects and no one bats an eye at it because in nuFallout nukes are lolsowacky funtime bombs. And yes, the BoS is okay with starting a war to destroy technology and using nuclear weapons for that war against technology now, because that's what Bethesda thinks the BoS is about. Nuking everyone they don't like and destroying any technology they don't like without any effort to preserve it. They also attempt to assassinate someone who developed a cure for a strain of FEV, because developing a cure for FEV is technically experimenting with FEV and therefore evil, so they think he needs to die. Because that makes perfect sense, according to Bethesda. On the bright side, you can at least convince them that's fucking retarded with a speech check - but then they imply they might assassinate him anyway.

If you join the BoS, you're forced to eliminate the Railroad shortly before the final battle, and you become flagged as hostile to the Institute on an earlier quest, so that's impossible. If you join the Railroad, their main quest eventually flags you as hostile to both the BoS and Institute, and you need to destroy both. Likewise, the Institute main quest flags you as hostile to both the BoS and Railroad. The Minutemen aren't inherently hostile to any of the other three major factions, since they're completely neutral on the synth issue. IIRC you can only do the Minutemen main quest if you're already hostile to the Institute, but either way, the Minutemen main quest ends with being hostile to and destroying the Institute.
There is a quest very early in the Institute route, long before you've become hostile with any of the other factions, where the Railroad and BoS both show up and fight the Institute. Since you're not yet hostile with either faction, they won't shoot at you - which is actually an intentional thing, since you can choose to betray the institute and side with either of the other factions during that quest.

What FO:NV mods are worth getting? Started playing last week and currently running with the bare minimum which were suggested in a sticky on the steam page (NVSE, anti-crash, stutter remover, 4gb patch, CASM, YUP bugfixes).
Is Project Nevada worth using? I don't recall if I've read a mixed reception of it here in the past.
I don't really want to go crazy with mods and I want to avoid porn mods as that just shifts the focus of them game for me. Maybe some HUD mod, the 'Fallout Character Overhaul', clothing retexture and possibly 'More Perks' but many of them look a bit questionable.
Also I don't understand the win conditions for Caravan, even after reading multiple guides.

I haven't played it either but from what I've read (mainly on here or /vg/) the dialogue is pretty cringy, game design is poorly done (railroady, massive fights all the time, no exploration) and the MC is fanfiction tier.
I'll honestly choose to trust those opinions and avoid it, other full conversion mods like Neherim and Enderal have rightfully received praise so I don't believe people just automatically hate all mods in that vein.

Hard core does have most of the realism hunger and shit sorted though, I just like weather mods because it makes it feel a lot more apocapytic, especially when you have a hell storm and all you can see is fucking red everywhere.
If it's as you say then that's a disappointment, I remember looking at it last year with a friend and being pretty hyped. I'll avoid it as well then, doesn't sound too great.

Caravan is easy, in the screenshot provided you just need to bust either his 26 or 21. Basically the game will keep going until he has no cards or cannot reach 21-26 with what he currently has in his hand/deck. Same conditions drop on you as well.

But the goal is to get a Caravanss between 21 and 26. Once you do that, you'll have a "Scoring Caravan".
The goal is to have 2 more Scoring Caravans than your oponent.
In your image, you have 3 Scoring Caravans, while your oponent has 2.
That's a difference of 1, and won't let you win.
what you can do, since all Caravans are between 21 and 26 is to fuck over the other player's Caravan. Slap that ace of clubs on the other guys first Caravan (you can do this) and you win since it pushes the Caravan to 27, reducing his number of Scoring Caravans to 1, exactly 2 less than you. He has a turn to counter it somehow, and if he can't, you've won.

Mod Organizer injects the mods so you don't have to reinstall everytime you fuck something up. NMM just overwrites and that is actually worse for the game because of loose files and overwritten data that is lost when uninstalled.

I was about to tell you to get Project Solid as it does everything PN does but it's more up to date and has tasty extras like sprinting and execution animations. PN has been long abandoned by the modders but I still use it for the useful random loot adjustment. Other things like perk every level can be found as their own mods. I also use the inertia mod which adds exaggerated weapon sway and I think it also fixes the iron sights for hunting rifles. Might want to add the mod that makes the meshes completely accurate so you shots don't hit invisible barricades.

I think it makes more "fair" in a way as most of my builds end up feeling constrained with only 25 perks compared to 50. There are a lot of slightly useful perks that you normally wouldn't pick because your perk choices are cut in half.
The mesh mods that I use are somewhat resource hogs in an otherwise easily ran game. They are: Precision Collision, Collision Meshes FNV and Unnecessary Physics. Forgot to add a simple fix for VATS that increases chance-to-hit range as everything has the same hit chance as a pistol without it.

I guess most of my complaints could be fixed by balancing and AI behaviour, but it still removes too much of the tense feeling you get when completely alone as compared to having an NPC watch your back that will immediately start blasting any enemy that has managed to sneak up on you.

But the game is just nowhere near as tense (especially when exploring dark enclosed spaces) if there's no danger in getting ambushed. The moment an enemy aggros on you, your companions psychically realize this and run to kill them even if set to passive.

You can tell they know how to work the gamebryo engine, and they tried doing something with it that bethesda was not capable of(inserting cutscenes, for example). Pretty much, altho faction mechanics are non existent, since factions are non existent. F3 is a good sandbox, a test of what would happen if you made a full 3D fallout game, by pretty much porting all the old assets from the old games to 3D, everything else just feels like it was thrown in so that they could make it a game and charge you 60 dollars for it. Most fun you can have in F3 is just exploring, and a heavily modded game, like mine, is focused on that. Combat is better thanks to the introduction of real armor, alternative ammo, and other goodies from NV. Hardcore mode features food, water and sleeping needs, which I modded to my liking, so taking chems and medicine greatly increases those needs(Like in survival mode in F4), new, better looking animations, much better weapon and loot variety, better leveling system, introduction of the survival system, ect. It feels like a whole new game, at the end of the day
Really, I think people don't understand the use of capital wasteland in the fallout lore. It's a 3rd world country, africa, it's a shithole nobody wants to live in, and the "Peak" of civilization there are mudholes like rivet city and megaton, which people from more civilized regions would laugh at. You have to look at the game from the perspective that this is a scavenging, survival experience, not really an RPG experience. It's not something that really defines a fallout game, but it works in it's own setting, the awful story and writing/quests can't be fixed by the new vegas changes that come with TTW, but they help with everything else, I don't play that game for the story, but I do consider it the ultimate proper wasteland experience

Is there a mod to clean up the streets, interiors and buildings and improve interior design and lighting? More than virtually anything else in NV it bugs me that there's still garbage and debris everywhere and that everyone is still living in 200 year-old hovels that are falling apart at the seams despite there being uninhabitable buildings made of perfectly good wood everywhere and recent construction all over the place. It's a shame than NV was so limited by the burdens of FO3's shit engine - it's mentioned in the game that the NCR has functioning trucks around, would've been neat to have some restored roads with NCR transports driving around but I imagine it'd be incredibly awkward and clunky in totally-not-modified-Morrowind engine.

Fallout 1 had a pretty cool balance feature for power armour. It was called "Not giving the player the best armour in the game within roughly the first half an hour of gameplay". If Bethesda had some fucking restraint there would be no need for the bullshit fusion core mechanic and power armour would feel much better to use because you wouldn't constantly feel like you're using up precious resources whenever you decide to stomp around and have fun.

Changing a virtually inexhaustible resource to something that you go through like potato chips instead of actually putting some consideration into their game design seems like a pretty fucking stupid thing as far as I'm concerned. They could have employed any number of mechanics to regulate the usage of power armor but instead of doing that they decided to turn a nuclear reactor into a AA battery. Just off the top of my head here are some things they could have implemented to balance PA usage instead of fucking up power cores.
>Almost all PA needs constant upkeep after hundreds of years of constant use and/or neglect and the harder you use it the worse the repair bill is
>Top-tier PA pieces come with narrative and/or gameplay consequences during acquisition and are rare as hens' teeth - a la Daedric armor in Morrowind
>PA (including the frame) can become damaged in combat and you either need replacement parts (found, purchased or specifically created) or you have an obvious weak spot and your PA no longer offers environmental protection
>People will (maliciously, not through AI retardation) steal your PA and/or your fusion core if you leave it lying around unprotected and you have to track them down and get it back before it's scrapped and sold piecemeal
>Functionality is iffy in cheaper armors because the armor is largely nigger-rigged and the microelectronics are held together by solder and prayers
>Make third-party upgrades, repairs and manufacturing necessary in many cases unless the character is heavily invested in science and crafting

This is the one suggestion I don't like. the worst part of how Fallout 4 treated Power Armor is that it forgot Power Armor Training exists. It makes sense for the Protagonist and The BOS to know how to use it but Raiders should only have Boss variants that can use it. This is the one game where the Perk makes sense because it actually does function differently than the armor you normally wear

The easiest way they could have balanced power armor would have been to make it unlootable from dead bodies. It's an exoskeletal walking tank that shouldn't be as simple to remove from dead bodies as a t-shirt. Make it so the only way to obtain it is by doing Anchorage which if you're not retarded is the first thing you do as soon as you get out of the vault, somehow sneak into/assault an outcast outpost that has power armor laying around or doing it the normal way and joining the Brotherhood. Regular power armor is ass anyways with the only good ones being the absolutely broken T-51B winterized and the Hellfire Tesla Enclave. New Vegas had very rare locations that had lootable power armor even going so far as to allow you to pick up Remnants armor without going through Ganon's quest, albeit you have to fight your way past 50 deathclaws.

Power armor training was invented by Bethkike because you could literally meet a random group of BoS Outcasts being mauled by a deathclaw as soon as you exit Vault 101, so you could loot their armor and break the game's difficulty's for a good chunk of it. Ironically, they would come full circle on Fallout 4 by providing you a suit of power armor as soon as you exit Vault 111.

The point of Power Armor WAS to make any ordinary grunt into a walking tank. They didn't need training because the armor did the training for them. They were mass producing them at such a rate that they could throw them at basic military police during the Canadian revolt as shown by the intro in Fallout 1. "Those cultists over there did it and it actually turned out pretty solid" people got used to the idea (the bomb kept not blowing up)
