Alright niggers, it's that time again. What have you gotten yourself for Christmas this year, or what are you looking to get before the year ends? Any of you got anything you're proud of having? You're playing your games and now letting them rest on a shelf like a faggot, are you?

All I got this month was a Commodore 16. Really got the majority of their computers now, all I need to do is sit down and learn BASIC when time allows. Debating getting my Dreamcast online since GDEMU works fine. Get the clone, the main faggot who sells them spergs out all the time about it when they work absolutely fine.

Waffling on getting this limited run of Celeste because it's a meme game, but I pirated it and it's not blowing my cock off like some people seem to think. I'm really just waiting for this P5 on switch announcement at this point.

I skip the PVM entirely on that. The consoles have the 2x RCA audio out, and the speakers have a 3.5mm jack so I just got a 2x RCA female to 3.5mm converter and change those to whatever console I want to use at the time. If I cared enough I could probably get a switcher for that.

Got Ape Escape 3 from a family member for Christmas. Parents also got me DVD sets of WHR and Scryed (in as far as giving me a spending limit to buy my own gifts in their names goes). Friend got me a flash cart and a controller adapter, but they won't be here until March or April because imports. Also made general pick ups of Rising Zan, Okami, and Magic Pengel this month. Could have also gotten a free copy of Melee from a giveaway on /vg/, but the OP was, of course, a tremendous faggot.
Been trawling shops here since the end of the year tends to be a decent time to find stuff in my past experiences, as people seem more apt to trade in things they normally wouldn't to afford gifts, and after Christmas there's also take backs. Not much of note this year, but I did tip off a friend to PS1 copy of RE2 I saw for $12, since I like to try to pass savings I see but am not needing off to him if he might be interested. I don't think he's apt to go for it though.
>Any of you got anything you're proud of having?
Not sure there's that much pride to be had in luck, but I do my best to not have to pay too horribly much on vidya. Feels good if you can find an enjoyable game at a fraction of what it's going for, and for what I can't manage, there's loading and emulation.
>You're playing your games
Slowly but surely. I prefer to give a game as much time as it needs, rather than rush through just to push it off the backlog.
>If you had something rare, would you dump it for others to preserve?
If I had one and the know how/materials to do so, but there's a fat chance of me finding/affording anything someone else hasn't done so for at this point.

PVM is worth getting if you can get one that isn't unfairly priced. Mine I got for $125 off CL, so it was honestly cheaper than even getting a scaler to use and I figured I'd prefer it anyways. The scanline look is really nice and the colors are really nice but if you don't have the space and you're getting ripped off over it then it's not going to be all it's cracked up to be, especially once you factor in the stupid expensive cables - I only have one SCART F to BNC because it's like $45 for a cable, and also only my SNES does RGB out cause I can use component on the PS2.

>Million Monkeys
That's Japan only, in case you weren't aware. Hope you've got a system that can play games off HDD or a PS2 emulation capable computer, since either will bypass the region locking.
>Hack it and enjoy. Pretty sure they have DS game loading off of a SD fixed entirely now, but haven't checked for a long time.
Planning to do so. That said, I'm a bit curious as to if the r4i 3DS actually works with regular DS as well, once formatted for DS games. Just saying, since I've heard some anons say that particular DS games don't run right on the 3DS (Chrono Trigger's drinking contest, for instance).
>>15925672
Neat. I might look into one in the future, and hope that they don't get discontinued in the meantime. I mean, I know there's individual SNES games that can go for more than the SD2SNES price tag, but it's still a lot of money to drop even for access to a huge chunk of the library, at least by my standards.
>>15925874
Did that game have a native physical, or does it suffer from "Limited Print Only" status? Just wondering if it's got that excuse, or just Nep fans valuing their CEs to a huge degree (the way Rebirth 1's goes for like $300+, at least last I saw it).

I don't think it has issues with all of them, but perhaps just some slight incompatibilities. I'd assume overall the backwards compatibility would be fine, but has some minor things it might not handle well. Similar to how the PS2 has overall PS1 backwards compatibility, but certain models have certain games they don't do well with for whatever reason (though the PS2's also odd in that some models don't play certain PS2 games as well).

Honestly, if I knew more about HDL Dump/b, I'd edit that text guide to include information on it instead. But WinHIIP seems to have more documentation from what I know of it, probably because more people have used it, because it's had more documentation (thus perpetuating its own cycle).

For me, it goes the opposite way, in that essentials tend to be cheap and easy to find and thus lower priority (aside from Gamecube stuff where those aren't especially cheap). More often I save what money I have for less easy to find stuff that's still of interest as it crops up, but even then I tend to lurk for possible cheaper prices unless I know it's not apt to happen. Just recently got a copy of Dark Crusade with the box and original game included. I'm still looking for the boxes and games for Fallout 1 and 2. I did manage to spot a copy of both fallouts in a game case, but it didn't come with the box nor the original jewel cases.
Not vidya related, but I did manage to find an original copy of the Imperial Infantryman's Handbook under market price. I consider myself quite lucky and thank the Empreror.

any consoles, really.

I received a copy of Pokemon Colosseum with the bonus disk for Christmas. It was kind of a shock to me to see the case wasn't any different, they literally stacked the bonus disc on top of the game disc in the regular slot. Not looking to buy anything at the moment, probably just going to keep playing what I've already got.

Found Kirby: Squeak Squad ($16), Rune Factory 3 ($14), and Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition ($6) lately, all complete and in good shape. DMC3 is also one of those black label "not for resale" ones from a PS2 bundle of all three games; just saying since aside from that it was Greatest Hits only to my knowledge, and the GH is a lot easier to find.

That's odd. Mainly saying because I've seen pic related around at stores in these parts lately, and it doesn't mention coming with Colosseum itself (IE: no two disc special bundle like the Ocarina or Time/Windwaker one). I would assume whoever got the disc prior lost the actual case, or it didn't have one when they acquired it.

I got mine for 25€ from a fantasy/sci-fi-hobbyist store. I don't think it's a particularly bad price for a few hours of amusement. Should probably read the damn thing through before the glue holding that thing together completely fails.

What games interest you first, then work from there.

Well that's bit disappointing then. I'll have to keep an eye out for an empty case.

>I pirated it and it's not blowing my cock off like some people seem to think
That's because those "people" are shills.

Only company I can think of that was lazy enough to just stack discs intentionally is Microsoft; Lost Odyssey has all four discs on a single (admittedly long) holder, as opposed to individual sockets.
Anyhow, that cover's from TCP. It should be properly printable at 300ppi, so if you've got access to a decent printer, it shouldn't be anything hard to run a cover for. Not sure if it had it's own manual of sorts though (honestly, I'd doubt it).

How many precision indie platformers with low effort pixel art can people possibly keep eating up?
