Given the overall way that Gearbox has presented themselves or has been ran by its head, I predict that the next borderlands will be very much a thorn in it's fanbases' side.
In that prediction I am sure that the game will be:
A) Online only
B) Recanted on its' focus towards single player
C) Lootboxes or its derivatives will be very much be built into the game
D) Will have a very unique form of anti pirate software that will hinder the abilities of personal mods or copies
E) Will come with very bad PR that will seem like it has been pre established or be non sequiturs
F) Will be considered to be just a clone of borderlands 2
G) Extremely buggy
My position is backed up by only circumstantial evidence. I have nothing concrete that directly relates to BL3 heading in the way of my predictions. I just want to start a conversation about my thoughts.
I think that the amount "trolling" Randy Pitchford has always been apart of both recently and in previous years gives credence to how he thinks about the game industry for both the past and present, once with passion and now with a bit of disain. His way of deceit when it comes to making games (IE Colonial Marines) has important signifiers as to how well funded BL3 has been. I do not think Gearbox has enough money to coincide with the amount of production Pitchford has stated there to be when it came to the new installing of the BL. Anyways, this is all I have off the top of my head. I be here commenting and will add more points of thought should they come to me.

There won't be a BL3, Cuckbox simply doesn't have the funds. His personal assistant stole so much money, he "only found out" (who the fuck doesn't check their financials for years) when he was unable to pay his staff. Add in they spent hundreds of millions on Battleabortion with nothing to show for it. They really blew everything they had on it thinking it'd be the a bigger borderlands then had a release that was in the same window as overwatch which did them no favours.

Actually they made Cuck Duckem Forever, BL1 and BL2 with the money for Aliens Colonial Marines then contracted Timegate to rush out a game. Funny thing was that Gearbox kept delaying ACM so SEGA would sent them more money over a longer period of time while lying to them about the progress on the game. It's speculated as to why SEGA didn't sue cuckbox is due to their contract was just to ship the game (regardless of the state/quality).
Despite the success of BL1, BL2 (and all that fucking DLC), getting the licences for Homeworld and Bulletstorm and selling remasters for both Gearbox had ~$3 million to show for it after Battleabortion which was then stolen by his PA (who the fuck doesn't notice someone buying an expensive house on the company account?).

I gotta second Krieg being the best character out of borderlands 2, Gaige was also very cool but every default characters in the game were pretty bad, its a shame the enemies were nowhere near as satisfying to hit and damage and overall fight against compared to the first borderlands, if they could go back to that feeling from the first game (and also put back revolvers in the game), it would surely be a better game than B2.
