Played about an hour and a half in Splat Zones for the first time in 2 barring a small taste test some time beforehand. After a few rough matches in the beginning, I had a decent win streak (6 or 7 maybe). It felt like matchmaking threw a brick wall near the end, I got really caught off guard. These joycons really need some getting used to with the sensitivity, and my aim is more shit than I remember. Got to B- with two cracks in the bar and the meter filled up near that line by the end of the rotation, and I saw a power level number on the lower left corner before the matches started that went to 1580 and dropped back down to 1410. It's fucking absurd that Port Mackerel was the first stage I ever played for ranked on both my regular and my alt account on 1, and now. The only difference was that on my original in Splat 1 the rotation was Rainmaker.

The Wii U was hacked the shit out of when it was "current-gen". How early or late a console is in its development cycle has no bearing on consequences for hacking it, only the actual hardware and how it's monitored does. An installer on it for game packages was available as early as late 2015 if I remember correctly. Nintendo couldn't tell the difference between regular and pirated copies on the Wii U, let alone whether a console had been homebrewed, so there were no consequences at all for putting homebrew all the games you could on it. All bans were based on whether enough people reported you online for hacking that they actually needed to check your game activity. Hell, I was running all the gamecube backups I could on the vWii at that time by the time mid-2016 came out, and a bunch of other virtual console shit. I never got banned.
They did up their ante with bans on the Switch, and I went into homebrew on mine understanding that. The pattern you needed to do to keep from getting banned was still simple: never use cfw online. I never did. Whenever I went online, it was on original firmware and to play that balloon world minigame on Mario Odyssey. For at least a few weeks leading up to today I could play it no problem, even with all the possible glow in the dark error logs that were being sent when I ran into errors on CFW offline (and believe me, there were a good amount of them). And guess what, people have been going for months on end doing a bunch of shit to their Switch and following that and guess what, no ban.
The game was a legitimate copy gifted along with a subcription, or I would have been console banned immediately upon going online. I used SplatHeX to modify the game save, which a significant percentage of people have used across both games without any consequence. The main thing I am trying to point out here was that whenever you get reported on that shitty app they have as a supplement on mobile phones for something as ridiculous as "poor sportsmanship", it can get your telemetry logs searched for possible homebrewing, and can actually get you console banned if the shoe fits. I guarantee you that was how they marked me: I was standing out like a sore thumb when I was playing online. I played completely legitimately (no LayerefFS or CFW), but I was way too fucking blatant with showing I've done this before. If I used a more basic weapon (e.g. Splattershot Jr.) until my matchmaking ratio got high enough, I would have gotten my ban delayed. But from what it seems, people got so assblasted that they reported the shit out of me. Then Nintendo put two and two together when they saw my console info/logs and that I only picked up ranked in 2 recently, and gave me the banhammer. Also, that I didn't get banned at all for about a whole month after I started homebrew, then suddenly get banned not 10 hours after my ranked session here >>15916165, shows that the people working at Nintendo most likely review consoles for banning on a case by case basis, and only after something sets off a red flag. This is why I'm offering advice for people who are in a similar situation to this i.e. paid online and using stuff such as SplatHeX, to watch your back whenever you go on matches and keep your heads down.
Regardless of what happened, I always have Splatoon 1 to go back to, and most of the games on the Switch aren't really meant for online play at least the way I see them, so I can live with it. Besides, I can get all the .nsp backups I want without pulling an easy $60/game out of my ass for games I might not even enjoy past a few hours of gameplay. And, above all, there could very well be a console ID/game cert spoofing scene developing sometime in the near future.

I got a console ban not 10 hours after my first real ranked session in the game less than two weeks ago. Got up to B- in a Splat Zones rotation, knockout after knockout for a good while >>15916165. Used SplatHex to make a setup with level 30, a Bamboozler 14 Mk II, two mains seven subs of Main Power Up and one main two subs of special charge up. The Burst Bomb Launcher special is an inkredible pusher, especially with that kind of weapon. I'm pretty sure my ban was because I jumped the gun and used blatantly experienced gear when I was fresh to ranked mode, possibly along with entering ranked earlier than expected. What I could gather is that some shitter reported me through the smartphone app, mods checked my play history and saw what I mentioned before, deduced I save edited, and elevated me to a console ban. So if you're going to edit, don't do what I did. Blend in until you're up against more competent people that won't report you for looking at them the wrong way.

Single player is fun, but if you don't plan on using online it's going to be a more empty experience, and the octo expansion is great, but is DLC and if you never played splatoon it may not be worth the risk for you, even if I found it worth it. I suggest looking more into the game yourself online or if you have any friends that you barrow the game from if they have it, and standard single player in 2 isn't as good as 1, and if go for 1000% in it, it will be long and boring if you do it.

I'm seeing jap and euro stuff on it so the differences between each region most likely have nothing to do with the core game texture/font/model files. No. I don't know how anybody can handle using the joycons. Even though I have dainty, girly hands and fingers, the joycon sticks are way too short, the buttons are way too small(holy hell, how do people use splatbombs with those teeny tiny R buttons), and the entirety of them are too small to get a full grip on. The pro controller is fairly ergonomic and at least has legitimate buttons.

This is why I hate Nintendo's consoles. They constantly taint the image of new technologies. Because they released infrared tracking on the Wii every thinks it's a gay gimmick, even though it's superior to analog.
The same thing happened to dual analog when it was introduced in Mario. Everyone thought it was unwieldy and gay. It was only until Halo came in with dual analog that everyone realized it was the better way of doing things.
Now it'll have to take the next Halo or COD to have infrared tracking for people to realize it's the better technology since console fags are such snobs.
It also doesn't help that Nintendo keeps insisting on being the first ones to have these new technologies, constantly tainting them with their cuties.
