How is Rogue's story sensible at all? Shay triggered that earthquake in Lisbon and killed thousands. When Shay returned to the American colonies, none of his assassin brothers asked anything regarding Shay's trip to Lisbon and nobody cared to talk to Shay, even though Shay already had reason to believe that an earthquake could happen based on those conversations between Achilles and Adawale. Brotherhood dumbed down the combat by adding those stupid killchains and the crossbow which could one hit kill anything. Then there was the overpowered assassin recruit crossbow barrage that you're forced to use from time to time if you want to complete those mission constraints and 100% the game.
Almost all of the assassination targets were complete garbage since they were nothing but multiplayer avatars and they had no setup to their character. You rarely get to scope out an area, locate the target, kill the target, then escape (aside from the mission where you kill The Banker, which was the one decent assassination in that game). The writing was dreadful and recuced the Templars to nothing but generic mustache twirling villains (Syndicate had this problem as did Rogue, many of the worst AC stories lack nuance).
Then there was the map of Rome itself which was crap. The south and east areas of the map are mostly flat and empty with hardly any activities to do aside from that stupid Reconstruction economy stuff, which was hollow and barebones. Repair shop, get money, and that's all you do. Get more money and repair more shops. You're overflowing with cash but can't spend money on much of anything worthwhile.
Brotherhood was a filler game with no substance, like most Assassin's Creed games.

The "I don't want to stare at a man's ass" has been around since the 90s. Supposedly the Tomb Raider devs changed the MC to a woman because they were tired of staring at a mans ass so that's probably where that argument/statement has coined. But then again the Crash Banditcoot devs also jokingly called their game "Sonic's Ass" which was released the same year. Plus there were some early 3d games, mostly 3d person shooters, Tomb Raider included, put the player character right smack in the middle of the screen, specifically the lower half of the torso was at the centerline. Most of the focus of in a 3d game is on the center to upper half of the screen, so it's not going to be surprising if you're going to occasionally glance at the ass at that perceptive, hence the man ass dilemma. Later platformers and shooters would fix this have the head be at or below the centerline of the screen. Even without a "no homo thoughts allowed" perspective that was a good idea because it gave more you more visual real estate and allowed a cross hair to be put at the center of the screen.

I recently watched a documentory by Jewtuber GamingHistorian on the subject. It seemed pretty nonbiased. A lot of the main licensing problems stemmed from a Jew selling rights to the game before he owned them, but that's neither here nor there.

Indeed he did get cucked out of royalties on the basis that he made the game on work time with work equipment. He did get them eventually though, but it was over a decade later.
That's my rough interpretation of it, but if you want you can look up that video and peruse the comments. There are a ton of commies in there trying to declare this as a win for Communism while also saying that Communism hasn't been properly attempted yet. They also say how this is a story about Communism succeeding over Capitalism when it was clearly the other way around.

That was a part of it I think. I'd have to watch the documentary again, but he was certainly working on that as part of his job. In the end though, him and his buddies just wanted to make some vidya.
I don't think it applies since this is decades later, but using AI in Tetris doesn't really pan out. People have tried throwing learning algorithms at it like they do Mario, but last I'd heard they always just end up filling the screen to the top and pausing at the last second so they don't enter a failure state. The funny thing is, you could actually make something interesting AND realistic with the idea of a woman assassin. Since women do not have the strength or political power of men, winning 1v1 fights is out of the question (enforced in the game by making fights severely hard for you) so they have to rely on stealth, disguises, poison and subterfuge far more than their male counterparts.
You could have a narrative of a girl that faces far greater chalenges than a man, with far less resources too and when she succeeds, it feels even more satisfying too.
But of course… That'd require recognizing that men and women are different. :^)

Apparently, AssCreed Odyssey was actually a market study.
The big wigs up top didn't want to have 2 characters because that's extra dev time that costs more without giving any more return in their profit. The Dev team however convinced them to test this theory with Odyssey, where they'd make both characters and see the popularity of the female one. If it was 50% or more, it'd be a solid argument to include girls in every game past this one.
The problem is that, while the male character was forgetable and generic, at least he wasn't downright an horrible person while Kassandra's ugly exterior is vastly surpassed by her ugly interior, not to mention the amount of people that want to play a women instead of a SPARTAN in ancient greece, is actually really small.
So basically, the devs fucked up any chance of including female characters from now on, which is good when we consider what passes by "female" to them.
