I work for a big agricultural company, and I can tell you that the level of incompetency is shocking. We have people who don't even know how to use excel, and some of those people are managers.

The higher-ups were all from the business world and understood literally nothing about what we were doing. Their knowledge of agriculture stopped at what the average child could tell you.

If our company ever fell on hard times, we'd go belly up. "Restructuring" is much easier said than done in the corporate environment. This is really hard to explain, but there's a "shoot the messager" atmosphere in business. That's why brownnosers and yes men are so common. Suits and middle-management will take a whole company down with them if it means they don't have to move on the corporate ladder.

I've been considering for the last year or so that the only way we're going to see a crash (but more like a depression) is when the US economy falls into a recession again.
