I'm guessing your daily interactions with "regular people" don't extend much lower than polite, mostly white, westernized, lower-middle class people. The well-to-do "geek" whales you see on YouTube with gaming merch wall-to-wall in their bedrooms aren't regular or common, which is why so many lonely kids live vicariously through them. "Regular" is being poor as shit, living in trash, constantly buying cheap, fleeting amusement, and not understanding why you can't get ahead. And they're usually console gamers. Only about 1% of FIFA's sales are on PC.
