Issue is that the PS2's library is fuckhueg, even just looking at actually worthwhile titles. Personally I'd like it to include some of the lesser known stuff, but we all know it would be sampler pack-tier, with very limited slots compared to the sheer amount of stuff that could be on there, and the bulk of what would make it on there would be either super popular mainstream games and/or games Sony doesn't have to pay extra to license due to owning themselves (admittedly not all of which would be bad choices). Fuck, one series I know of where the devs would love to see them rereleased, be it digitally or as a compilation, the publisher gives zero fucks about other than continuing to sit on it doing jackshit (and as the system owner, modern sony probably wouldn't allow it anyhow). Regardless, like the PS1 Classic, it would be missing a lot of "must plays" regardless of whether they went the mainstream or "this actually deserves a second chance in the sun" route. I think the only people particularly satisfied would be newfags to the system, who aren't all that aware of key games being missing.

Shame Atlus only ever seems to clear games that are developed in company for reprint, but I suppose that's a lot easier than trying to negotiate with the original rights owners again, some of whom might not be around anymore. Annoys me that Skygunner jumped from $30 to $50 recently as well, but there's always HDD loading and such.
>dual layer dvd games are very uncommon. Only one I can think of off the top of my head is Yakuza 2.
It's only a handful in the grand breadth of the library, but they do include a number of good games. I'll see if I can find the list.

PS2 had three media formats: CD-R, DVD-5, and DVD-9. Most games are either at or beneath the four point whatever cut off DVD-5 is. But that can still wind up being a lot of space for a single game, times however many they'd want to include for $[X] or can fit into storage of [Y]GB. And a few games on the system still used multiple DVD-5 discs of continuous content (as opposed to demos/bonus features), and I know one game, Sakura Wars 5, used two DVD-9s (instead of cutting the voicing to fit on one disc, it's one language per disc instead).
