Approaching 30s here, yeah videogames are kind of a bad drug and the longer you can keep kids off of it, the better.
If you have kids, pretty much any other constructive hobby is a better way to spend time with them and most importantly, makes them develop a skill that can be marketable in their future.
If it really has to be videogame related, try to get them into programming, modding or making art, but make sure the time wasted playing videogames remains minimal.
