I think about this kind of stuff a lot, actually.
I've always wanted my parents to play games with me, but they never really did. My Dad would just play my SNES when I wasn't home or around.
If my Dad were still alive, I'd probably gift him Starfox. Since that's the game he really seemed to like playing most, was one of the few games he had any interest in playing.
My Mom used to really be into Rollercoaster Tycoon about 15 years ago; but her body, sight and overall condition have deteriorated to the point that she can't really much of anything in the way that she used to. I gifted it to her last year, it made her happy, even if we both knew that the packaging would never be opened.
My grandfather is still alive and in good health, but he's swiftly approaching 80 years old. He grew up on westerns and stuff, and I think gifting him either of the RDR games would be nice, but can't really justify purchasing a console just for one game.

Mom has zero interest in playing any sort of game, and dad's a literal boomer whose only interest in vidya are old Atari games and GTAV/The Last of Us (he got a PS4 explicitly and only for the latter). That's it, and there's honestly no way I'll be able to instill any sort of good taste in him at this point. Honestly, best thing vidya related I could do for them, if I felt like it, would be to import an OST for a series I love for my mom, as she's at least able to appreciate music from vidya (and even anime) in my experiences in the past, and her surprise at finding that such composers for soundtracks she like are Japanese is amusing (she seems shocked they'd put that much effort into it). But no, the only vidya I drop money on are predominantly cheap older games for myself or a friend. I don't think anyone else in my extended family even plays vidya.

If you think he's fine with something weird, since he likes JRPGs, look into getting him into Shadow Hearts if he hasn't already, assuming sixth gen isn't somehow "too old" by his standards. Probably worth noting though that the series chronology goes back to Koudelka on the PS1, and as a whole four game series, it is kind of getting up there in price.

Good to hear. My dad certainly is a "muh grafix" sort, with the exception for atari games he grew up with, and from when I used to show mom what I'd play, she never really liked what she'd see. Either it was too "adult", "too kiddy", or "too outdated." All within the same series, no less.
>I'll look into those games. I haven't heard of them somehow, but I'm interested.
Historical fiction JRPG series with varying ratios of dark to quirk (more in favor of the latter as it went on), with a neat take on turn based combat due to the Judgment Ring system (in the PS2 entries anyhow), and a rather out there, at times morbid sense of humor. Started as a gothic horror game with RPG and lite-tactical elements on the PS1, before settling into a JPRG series with horror designs. I found them all quite enjoyable, but I suppose they're not for everyone, and even fans are divided on which are good or not.

If thay were my brother I would beat the tar out of him. Trannies never understand how it feels to see a loved one descend into madness and hedonism. It's kinda like suicide, but instead of grieving and moving on you're constantly reminded of the person who used to be there by their mutilated body and insane mind.

Listen up, everyone around. (You) have no dynamic with actual anons. It shows down to where you're going. I don't care for (You) and that will not change. I know almost too much, I pretend to normal it away enough even here. Unless, it is (You). God hates a coward. (You) don't care about the state of anon nor this board, just whatever you can snipe after you and yours already dead. I'll be having a time with my kin here, you can go back to your slack hugoff faggotry. I'm not blind to the transgressions you put upon various proper OPs and anons caught in the flak. If you think I die too. So do (You). This is the rule of this fair land.

abcd16 here
I wasn't planning on documenting 3 years of friendship with the post being as long as it is. DMC4SE wasn't the only game I gifted to him, it was the first one and DMCV wasn't the only game he gifted to me, it was the last. I shut myself down during those 2-3 months, he wasn't the only friend or relative I ghosted, I'd admit he was way better than me at dealing with shitty situations. I know that for some of you what happened to me it's nothing and thinking back on it, it seems rather trivial but I've rarely gotten caught in so much shit in so little time but I guess you either win or you learn.
We were good friends, spoke a lot, played many games together and had really good times. Is just that feels hit me when I think how Devil May Cry brought us together and was the last thing we talked about…

Get some hot cocoa and snacks stocked up, get a new game and hold off to play it, and check in here to get some multiplayer games going.
Hell if y'all want I know a fuckload of christmas cookie recipes since it's a family tradition to make like 30 different kinds to hand out to neighbors. Since my shitbag neighbors threw the ones I baked last year out I'd be happy to spread the knowledge just to keep the spirit of that going. Also know some relatively easy proper recipes for a christmas dinner, even alone worst case scenario you'll have some leftovers or hand it out to neighbors and be that guy who cooks all the good shit.
Also go get some tree analog. Like a shitty desktop mini tree or wall sticker thing, hell even a background would do.
