I would recommend trying out RPG maker games as well, some of them might not have great gameplay but have very engaging stories, and some even make their gameplay interesting with statfuckery as well as clever use of scripts and sometimes they can have fucking hours of content. Some of them are also basically adventure games and not RPG so the problem of bad gameplay dissappears.

For multiplayer, use:

All right, I had to look this up because I couldn't believe the stupidity, but it's true.
You actually cannot buy just the original any more.
I can still download it from my account though.
Also, if you pre-purchase the Rewritten version, you'll get the original game + expac. On the fucking 1st of December.
I assume that they'll let you keep it and allow people to choose which one do they want even after the remaster releases.
https://www.pcgamesn.com/warcraft-iii/warcraft-3-original
Absolutely awful.
If all you want to do is play the campaign, pirate any version that you can find.
Anything with the 1.30 patch is nice because it includes proper widescreen and high resolution support.
For online, you can play on W3arena, but it's only for ladder matches and only really good people play there.
Regular bnet has some non-dota (worst bullshit ever) custom maps every now and then, along with an active ladder.
The game is way past its prime, but you can still have fun with it.
I wouldn't recommend giving money to Blizzkikes unless you REALLY liked the campaign and feel you must play the online.

Master of Magic is fantastic. It can evoke both the feeling of being a powerful wizard ruler and the feeling of being on a great adventure. I love just building up parties to cleanse monster lairs for loot and trying to be at peace with other wizards.
Actually I haven't tried the vanilla game and jumped straight to the Caster of Magic mod which supposedly greatly improves the AI and makes the game more balanced and faster paced.

I'm kicking myself for paying to double the ram on this thing a few years ago rather than saving it towards a new laptop but at the time I needed it for artfagging. The game I'm playing has a minimum specs of i3, 4gb, gtx 660 [1gb vram]. If you don't like fucking with DOSBox to set up running the game, then that's already done for you if you buy/pirate the GOG release.
Also, it's not a demanding game to emulate. The mod is more demanding but it still runs smooth if you increase the CPU cycles. I recommend also changing the DOSBox renderer to "openglnb" and increasing the resolution to get crisp pixels.
351728 No.15800190
>>15800156
I already know that the game is on GOG. It's just that when a sourceport is available, it's almost always preferable to use it instead of playing on DOSbox (99% of people don't play Doom on DOSBox for example)

755ec3 No.15800233

Also, I would like to add, Master of Magic has a surprisingly good UI for a DOS game. It's really excellent in putting tooltips for damn near everything. Almost every icon, label or button can be right-clicked for detail/help text and the Caster of Magic mod keeps such texts up-to-date when it tweaks gameplay.
For examining terrain (e.g. to check how much resources a tile yields) and objects on the map, you toggle the "Surveyor" by pressing F1 for detail text to appear on the right when you hover your cursor over tiles.
