Dragon's dogma has a system where your damage done is literally just damage = attack - defense, meaning if your attack is lower than the enemy's defense you won't do any damage. It would be really fun for a few hours, a difficult intense action game based on reflex, resource management, and using the variety of weapons given to you creatively. Then the game goes to a black screen for several years and doesn't allow you to continue.
