Working on building my own gaming PC right now, just today got "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" at 50% off for $30 on the shitty xbox I usually use when I have to babysit my nephew. Is it worth playing or would I do better to just fucking wait for my CPU to come in next week when I can complete the PC and play it as it was meant to be played?
The fucking thing was just $60 the previous week, and to see Xbox giving a genuine discount on something was too good to pass up. Any console fags here who have never even played PC who have any thoughts on it? BTW, if you are a console fag, stay that way. I swore never to play a game again after I started Uni, and now I'm SLIing with 2 new cards, overclocking, using bitcoin money I made and money I made shorting the pound to buy Bose speakers and a driving set up with a Vive to enjoy a drive" along the French border and then into Spain and the small villages to visit Reconquista sites, etc.. between gym, law school, investment research, and the occasional piece of ass barely have time to scratch my balls these days. DON"T get into PC games and VR if you aren't already. Do something productive.

It's got some decent replayability, so you can keep two diferent runs on each device.
As for the game, it's fucking great. Buggy as shit when it came out, some of the bugs were hilarious, some were not.
Pretty fixed and polished now but you will run into the occasional gamebreakingbug here and there (I get one of these every 4-5 hours).
Quick advice: don't go for a criminal run at first. Try to stay within the law and not piss people off. Two reasons: it's hard as balls early on, it's easy as peazy later and trivializes the game. It's massively fun too, but it's not the ideal way to enjoy it.
Playing as a pious virgin is a good challenge, but don't do it at first either, the "sexual" content is midly amusing.
Just assume you're a peasant, play like one, and try to improve.
Also: TALK TO THE FUCKING NPC's. All the time. This isn't a Bethesda rpg where the NPC's give you helpfll tips like "Mudcrabs are nasty creatures, avoid them". They actually do tell you important shit, doubly so if you're on a quest for them.
And before someone mentions it: when you get to the quest to save a Jew from a Pogrom, remember that you can sheathe your sword in his eye sockets. The game will say "Quest Failed", but killing a Jew is it's own reward for a pious knight of God.

You can't break main quests. The game has to have a narrative you can fallow. That's game design 101. Side quests allow for more flexibility. They are self-contained stories which usually don't inpact the main narrative that much. Their scope is very limited and that's why KCD allows you to complete them in defferent order and in different ways. Aside from the player perception of the world they don't change the world itself. Generic bandit hunting quests and doing favours for beggars aside, side missions in KDC allow for a great deal of freedom and flexibility. You can talk your way out of trouble. You can betray your employers. You can threaten people. You can sneak and be a thief. You can avoid bloodshed and you can go guns blazing if it's what you desire. I'm just curious why Vávra decided to include this particular quests with only one way to successfully complete it. It just sticks like a sore thumb that's all.

Nah, it's a good game. One of the very few true RPGs released in the recent years. It's just held back by technical problems and its spaghetti code. For Warhorse for every issue there's a band aid solution and an empty promise it will be truly fixed later on. Safe to say I will never buy a game from them ever again considering the state the KCD was released all the way back in Ferbruary and their rather limited efforts to fix it since then. Save corruption is still there. For some people (9% according to the Warhorse estimate) the game will always crash around the 40th day mark and cannot be complated at all. Some quests are still bugged to high heavens and cannot be finished. Issues with texture pop in and texture streaming are present even on PCs. The overall performance is rather poor and the game likes to drop frames. It's very CPU intensive. Thankfully the infamous halberd bug is finally gone. If you can look past those technical shortcomings the game is great and I enjoyed it very much (when the game decided to work that is). There's just no point in being a blind fanboy about it.

Take the souls games which are so popular the internet over.
What's the point? The game's RPG mechanics do not go beyond the status screen and the game is hardly about YOU being immersed in the world.
Titles like Morrowind and Oblivion have some ground to stand on because the whole point of those is to let you live a different life in those worlds (even if they don't achieve that fully, but they do try).
Character creation isn't necessarily a bad thing but half the time I'm left wondering if the game needs it.
Hell, I never bothered going into any detail in most games because you will rarely if ever see your character's face and the way you look is completely irrelevant to the NPCs around you.
In contrast to that, a premade character can have more detailed and meaningful interactions because the devs know exactly who he is and what he looks like.
And yes, I am aware that Arcanum exists, but that's one game.

What's even funnier, you can actually level up your polearm skill, even without the use of any mods. It's just half implemented and doesn't work very well. There's no visual indication for doing so and the skill itself doesn't affect your polearm damage (and there are no polearms perks as well) but you can gain levels that way nonetheless. There's an experience bar on your Polearms weapon proficiency, which is normally hidden but you always gain exp with polearms no matter what. Unfortunately polearms are treated as oversized weapons instead of primary weapons, which means they can't be stored in your inventory, sold or repaired. Also there's a wierd bug if you use polearms yourself. The AI will generally no longer use polearms against you, if you attack them with a polearm, as their AI will prefer the swords/axes/maces that they also carry. It's not so much that they can no longer use polearms, it's that their AI instructs them to use something else. Enemies who have no other primary weapons will still use polearms, but those cases are rare.
