The good bits:

>Army General, Steel Division 2's Dynamic Strategic Campaigns, is a single player turn-based strategy game mode in which you can, if you wish, fight every single battle in real-time. More than just a new game mode, our philosophy is to develop it as a new game within the game. As the General of your army, you are in charge of dozens of historically-accurate battalions, hundreds of companies, thousands of men, in up to 150km-wide maps. During each turn (representing half a day), you will have to manage their movements, their combat, and make sure the supply line is intact.

>A. Massive, time-consuming Single Player Campaign: Even if Steel Division 2 will have way more skirmish content than its predecessor on day one (10 more maps, 200 more units, new game modes, etc.), we wanted to make sure that a solo player could enjoy a long, highly replayable and interesting campaign in addition to the skirmish experience.

>A New Game within the Game

If the Real-Time Tactics put you in the boots of a Commander, leading your men in ~3km-sided battlefields, the Dynamic Strategic Campaigns make you a General, supervising your army on an operational level. In order to provide an authentic feel, each map is designed from original Ordnance Survey maps, and battalions are represented as pieces on the map. As a General, you have access to detailed information on every battalion, such as its combat values (Assault, Armored, and Support) and, more importantly, the companies and the units within them. You can also display the units' stat sheet at any time with just one click.

Maybe without the Parajew, Eugen can finally get it right this time? And this time it's the Eastern Front to boot, crush the commies!

>Eugen

>coding Ai to do anything but spawn with twice the units you have and then telling them to all attack-move the end of the map that you spawned on

You have way too much faith in the frogs. Steel division tried so hard to appear deeper than it actually was, but all's it did was hide the unit HP and claim it had a "sophisticated damage model" when in reality it was the exact same as it always has been since European escalation.

Well, pirate first of course.

But the fact they are trying to make a strategic layer is gud!

>Steel Division

>Strategic anything

I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but if you dig into the game's files and unit attributes you'll see some of the most retarded design choices of all time.

>.50 machine guns, which are mounted on at least 90% of American vehicles, deal more splash damage and more morale damage than a Pak38

>"AAA is the shield and aircraft are the sword" philosophy as regards air combat, meaning that even if you've got 88s all over the fucking map the most they'll do is scare away slower planes

>Allied morale, particularly paratroopers, is mechanically designed to be higher than Axis morale by orders of magnitude

>I have watched with my own eyes as Stuart tanks (the cute little ones) shrug off AP rounds from a Panther's cannon while scooting across a road or something while trying to get close

>I have also watched those same Stuart tanks close to 400m and kill that Panther because reasons

Or you can just play Graviteam Tactics instead.

One is turn-based, one is real time.

turn-based is trash

Actually, it was far worse.

Instead of a simple to understand percentile accuracy the previous couple wargames had used, STD used a bizzare 2d6 or 2d6+2 or some shit roll under that is never explained. Additionally, Eugen don't know if they want to base it on realism or multiplayer balance. Some decisions, such as not giving an american division Hellcats which, historically, were absolutely mandatory for their operations are based on allegedly on realism as the hellcats weren't an organic part of the division. Then you have shit like giving random numbers of shit based on balance that have no relation to reality.

A common problem with all of their games is a question of scope. The game takes place on the Corps scale, as you will almost always be fighting with multiple divisions against multiple divisions as the game is utterly unplayable in 1v1 scenarios as one division can not cover all bases. Despite this, Eugen absolutely will not give any corps or army level assets because the division did not have them, except when they based on the alignment of the stars.

The company has no focus, is very bad at what they do, OUTSOURCES 100% OF THE VEHICLE MODELS DRASTICALLY INFLATING PRICES, has never done a quality single player campaign in their existence, has since Wargame Red Dragon started releasing paid DLCs which are always mysteriously better than vanilla units, and is in a paradox situation where people take it because no one else does it.

Do not buy their shit.

Graviteam Tactics has turn-based operational mode also…

Eugen made Act of War, which has quality single player campaign man.

Here's hoping this game can fucking deliver.

I must admit that the first of their games I've played is Wargame European Escalation. I do know they've made a sequel to Act of War called Act of Aggression universally hailed as shit.

Nigga a 37mm Gun would penetrate the sides and rear of a Panther at 600 yards, the Stuart taking a shell in return however sounds really far fetched.

Play Graviteam Tactics instead, keep in mind that it takes like 20-30 hours to GIT GUD and actually have some real fucking fun.

This will be their third or fourth failure to do so, by the way.

They already had that since air land battle. And it also sucked ass with the Ai having three times the units as you did, and often ones that broke the timeline and didn't come into service at the time the campaign was supposed to be taking place. They did this because their Ai is dumb as fucking bricks and even with retarded future tech will throw their platoon of 20 T80As (in 1975 despite the tank rolling out in 76) into a town inhabited with the shittist, cheapest 5 point militia squads with RPG2s that slap them all to death one HP at a time. Lets not even get into the part where you have to fight Su-27s (introduced into service 1985) and KA-50s (INTRODUCED IN NINETEEN NINETY FUCKING FIVE) while still in 1975. The campaigns were always a complete slough and played more like a fucking tower defense game than anything else because you literally cannot advance anywhere. Just kill kill kill, hold your ground until it hands you the win.

>>15759024

Fuck they outsource their vehicles? That really explains how inconsistent they all are with some having crew visible, some not, some of the helicopters having opaque cockpits, some you can see the crew, and pretty much all of them having terrible clipping issues.

3f28f1  No.15759158

They've tried this multiple times and constantly fail at it, all of the Wargame campaigns were terrible

that's been a thing since wargame too, some korean company IIRC

SD44 is closer to C&C than something like Wargame. I like it because I enjoy crushing Allied skulls with my King Tigers and shitting on them with Flak 88s and all that. Infantry combat is annoying, but the vehicle combat is pretty fun. I usually just do skirmishes with AI teammates vs. other AIs when I want to turn my brain off and relax.

Those Cromwells and Crocodiles can suck my dick, though. Heavy front armor and range in the early game that can outrange my field guns? Cunts.

Is this a 4x or a single player RTS?

596be5  No.15763075

>>15762783

It's a multiplayer RTT that will likely have another utterly shit campaign just like the last 4 or 5 games.
