The thing about that is that's the truth of most conspiracies. If they're planned, they're usually stupid. If they aren't, it's because a bunch of people are reacting blindly and it LOOKS like they're all in lockstep when in fact they're all doing the knee-jerk thing to do.
Example: Company A sees money in foresting, and so does Company B.
Both chop down a shitton of trees to sell for lumber, and because Company A sees Company B as a competitor, they think nothing outside of chopping down more trees then the other company, undercutting profits when the entire forest gets chopped down.
Except in this case they're butting heads and instead of scaling back, they're going bigger mindlessly, all money goes into bigger and bigger budgets, and no thought is given about the cost, people are just paid royal sums. It gets to the point that no amount of skill can justify the sheer amount of money that's handed out to companies, which encourages overspending and reduces competition because they've created a money gate for new entries, but then something new comes in that makes it cheap to do what they do, someone passionate does it better and the big companies forget what made them big.
Eventually, these companies go Enron, fucking bankrupt and corrupt. Big money's made by wise men, but it's handed off to the retarded.
