It's been a long time, but I think that for Hellgate London you had the original game which quickly became single player after Flagship's death, then Hanbisoft's expansions, then the F2P version with online servers, and now this one. From what I've gathered the rerelease has been edited to be more like a Korean MMO and didn't go through optimization at all. I'm going to go on a whim and say that it's probably best to play the original version and see what modders have done.

There's some Korean f2p one floating around somewhere that I really recommend you play instead simply because the game itself isn't really great but it isn't terrible either. I played it for the first time a couple years ago on that very f2p server with a friend of mine and since there were two of us I had a really good time, but the old caveat that anything is fun when you're doing with a friend holds true in my book. Alone I can't imagine I'd have had even remotely as much fun.

No, just play the original game if you want to be autistic and solo but bear in mind the game was hacked up into trying to be an MMO game when really it was more like a diablo but able to meet other people in the game's hub world.

Get Hellgate Revival instead. It's the original game, before the gooks got hold of it, overhauled to remove the bugs and add content that the devs never got around to.

It's also free.
