We are currently starting out on SWG: Legends server with about six people so far for any interested and bored anons looking to play an MMO again.

Legends has been around for years and wont explode on us like some of the other servers has and has more than enough content to keep us interested. Once ingame, if you have no idea what you are doing, do the tansarii station quests and make sure the new player tutorial is ticked, if you DO have an idea of what you are doing PM or /tell Ernest' for an invite to DOSE

Legends is about as active as chilastra(my live server) if not more when they pulled the plug forcibly to make way for SWOTOR. Its really encouraging to run around and see such an active community, thats how SWG was meant to be, theres groups of people everywhere all over chatting and running about doing things who arent just macroing.
The only thing I haven't seen is imps on chilastra used to hang out in the bestine cantina but it seems they meet elsewhere now.

A lot of people enjoyed it but it has its flaws, it also supports joysticks and has configurable deadzone inertia etc.
It might feel samey if you have to grind out the mass genocide of rebel collection, but theres things to do like running down blockade runners and traitorous star destroyer crews, space pvp also exists.
POBs (gunships and multi crew ships) exist with interiors that you can decorate like a house and its not uncommon to see ace pilots literally live inside their gunboats.
Reverse engineering allows you to take ten parts you found in space and reforge them into a part with the best stats selected from every part you put in so its a huge hobby to make a giga-nigga ship TL;DR its actual star wars flight sim instead of SWOTORs on rails bullshit.

SWGEMU is devoid of content and any vision, Legends is how SWG was when it finally got shuttered by the need to have actual customers to play SWOTOR, its got a different combat system, but also JTL and the improvements NGE did infact bring to the game like how not everyone has to wear composite armor and use a power hammer. Any armor can be crafted just as good and items can also be appearance equipped for the people who don't like to look armored up.

I have played SWGEMU a long time, and Ive played NGE emulators a long time, NGE is the more content rich experience, with more quality of life changes, more positive pvp and pve changes, and more content overall and I can see legends is thriving because of it just by looking at how many newfags are streaming into mos eisley. I think he's asking about the combat. In Kotor/etc. the combat is heavily based around the animations. You throw an animation out, and then you walk toward the enemy- is generally how the combat works, so the animations are very important. I'm guessing SWG plays like your typical mmo though.

Pre-cu purists believe that NGE killed the game but the reality is the jedi hologrind pre-cu based on design lead testimonies actually started srrinking player subs rapidly when they had been growing rapidly up to that point.

You can still go suboptimal with expertise trees in NGE. Meme and fo' fun builds are entirely possible but even the most fo' fun build will still be viable in some way. NGE was buggy rushed mess and barely became playable by the end of life but let's not pretend that pre-cu was perfect.
If there were some good pre-cu servers I would be all over it but it's all SWGemu and those niggers are trying to replicate what was objectively the single worst point in whole lifetime of SWG, 14.1, which turned the game into complete unbalanced muh minmax garbage that forced Sony to launch CU several months before it was finished. Because even the shit launch of CU was better than 14.1.
