Got any bad gaming habits?
Either related to games you play, or how you play them? Bonus points for identifying the cause of the habit.
I have to kill everything in a room before I leave. I find myself going through the motions of slaughter even though I could easily leave and save myself the time. This stems from when I wasa kid playing the original Zelda and I often had to kill all the enemies in a room to get a key to appear or open a closed door.

I'm a chronic reloader.
I'm always compulsively hitting it every few seconds just in case I haven't already done it. It's become so habitual that sometimes I reload right in the middle of a firefight.

I tend to use items right when I get them so I don't end up hoarding. Sometimes I regret not holding on to some things just a little while longer.

The exact opposite of this. I keep items (especially healing items) unless I absolutely need to use them, so I invariably have a huge stockpile by the end of the game.

I just flat out stop playing a game if I was trying to have a nothing-missed playthrough, and end up missing something important. Shit like "After you beat the boss, but before you talk to the guard, cross the whole damned area and look under a desk for a book that you can't get at any other point in the game."

Whenever I'm close to finish a game I like, I stop playing it before finishing it because I don't want the experience to end. Either that or instead of playing the game once every week I play it once per month, or replay levels that have already been %100 when it can be done, or instead of playing through three levels I just play one.
I think it's because its hard to find a game I really like so when I end up finding it I stretch the time playing it artificially. I dig arcades because they avoid this reasoning

I've been trying to get rid of these habits, but it's super hard if you've never played a game before and you don't know what to expect from later on in the game. Another thing that's not a gaming habit but fuck it

you need to have it put down before anyone gets attached to it, both of my brothers pulled the same shit but unfortunately they couldn't realize their mistake before it was too late. and don't you try to just push the dog on someone else faggot, that's how you get dogs that are traumatized from abandonment. I keep all my healing items and shit too, and mainly use the weaker primary weapon the whole game instead of using up resources, then at the end of the game I've got fucking tons of everything.
It gets to the point where I'll fight a boss, win using only one healing item or something, then I'll reload that save and fight it again until I win without using any items. I did that a lot when I played DMC.
