There was a game years ago called lost saga with this exact same chibi art style that let you use your own textures and at that resolution it was fucking pointless and you couldn't change the model at all so the amount of freedom it left you with was extremely limited.

You have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. For every single new sprite than goes on a character, it has to have new animation frames drawn for every animation that affects it. If there are any different body types for characters, clothing sprites have to be redrawn to fit those body types. However, with 3D models, they only need to have a compatible skeleton to use the same animations. You don't have to recreate the models for every frame. Models can be dynamically morphed to fit different body types. There's a greater range of freedom for which items can be placed on a 3D model. Sprites, and 2D animation in general, are more difficult to work with than 3D models and animation.

Still, Game still is shit with all the useless maps and mobs. Even the lore is shit so is the themepark storyline quest. Combat isn't comfy at all like you would expect from maplestory. Except it's not easier to animate a sprite either. With 3d models you can download them and puppet them with a fucking webcam. The difference is not that sprites are easier, but that people have lower expectations for sprites. Once you start using overtly 3d models, people raise their expectations accordingly. They want perfect morphs, complete hand/finger/feet/head movements, high resolution textures. If people had the same expectations of sprites, no one would do sprites.

This animation was far easier to create than doing 30-60 fps animating a fucking sprite to do something equivalent, but pyschologically you are admitting it's easier by telling me you expect it to do far more, like not being
