I'm not really a fan of some of the recent pokemon designs, but holy shit. Did they just go from silver Ditto with a bolt on its head to RIP AND TEAR. I kinda like it since it falls inline with traditional pokemon design philosophy where they'd start out cute and then become SWOLE. In any case I just hope there's an alternate method to catching these guys rather than having to use a fucking smartphone app.

the "backstory" is just explaining that Meltan is apparently some ancient pokemon described by some ancient tablet that Professor Oak just so conveniently had on him when the Pokemon Go Professor Willow talked to him about a new pokemon that was leaked beforehand because Niantic is such an incompetent dev. The Evolution also has a tiny bit more explanation of "if Meltan gathers enough metal, or enough candies ingame, he evolves into Meltan Regigigas"

Meltan/Melmetal are the best designs in a few generations and they finally end the everlasting cocktease that is Metal Powder, but it's also yet another steel type and being revealed in Let's Go!. I'm not sure how to feel about this, all in all.

It's mythical because of how it was revealed in real life. It was leaked in datamining, people thought it wasn't a real mon, then they had some event where it'd rarely show up. They seem to have been attempting to recreate the effect of playground rumors of secret, fictional, pokemon, as far as I can tell, which is why it's "mythical".
It's also apparently capable of transforming Ditto into clones of itself permanently, and apparently reproduce by consuming metal, so that's an explanation for why they're so common.

For the Jotho games, try Crystal for GBC or Heart Gold or Soul Silver for DS, depending what you're emulating it on and your preferences with graphics. It has Misty in the postgame, but she's a bit older. Black 2 and White 2 also have Misty's HGSS design as an extra boss. As for my recommendations for other games, Emerald and Platinum are pretty good, and Black and White are some of my favorites. All the others aren't really worth playing or are a little harder to emulate unless 3DS emulators got a lot better and you're not emulating on a smartphone.

There could be mechanics where you have to make them nut first or they get away. On screen prompts would appear to spin the joystick in the right direction and mash the right button. Stronger mons could be riskier in that if you fail the nut-battle they cause damage because of their horse sized dong or game over by capturing/eating you.

There could be different lewd catching moves, and certain mons would be more susceptible to specific moves than others. One pokemon might be weak to sumata whereas another was weak to having its pokeballs played with.
