You can exploit one of the stations, I think is one on level 7, to nullify enemy encounters. You need shit-ton of colored energy cells, but is doable. Also escaping has a 100% rate. Just go to the exit of the combat zone and leave. You can even use the way turns work to do so before enemies can even move. The "grind", so to speak, is more noticeable if you want to do secondary missions and the arena, as some of those may require some farming, traveling around, and the arena has a shit ton of fights before you can reach the higher ranks (there are around 50+ ranks, and you have to do at least 3 fights each rank to be able to access the next one, and considering how the combat system works, each fights requires at least 2-3 turns , so while each individual fight doesn't take that much, 150+ fights add up, you will feel that time).
I'll say the game is quite good, but also rough, so to speak. The combat is fun, with a combination of "real time action" with turn based action, although it would be more precise to say it has "simultaneous turns". Each of your characters have a turn. During their turn they can perform a series of actions, move a certain distance or skip to the next turn. But the peculiar thing is, that the enemy will only move or attack when you are moving or attacking. Meaning that you can actually dodge enemies attack just by walking away, taking cover and the like. This coupled with the way enemies target your party members and how they perform their attacks, that is, if they are targeting you, they will attack you once their action bar is full, often times interrupting your actions, but will wait until the end of your turn to attack the other party members. Understanding this is very important, as you can exploit this to attack enemies targeting party members to try and interrupt the enemy attack. Doing so well can allow you to defeat an enemy without they making even a move, although it depends of the enemies of course, some are much harder to stun or knock down than others. The use of Heroe's points both as your effective health and main and most powerful means of attack is actually quite compelling, which forces the player not to waste them, and try to play more smartly, that is, perform HP gauge breaks to obtain Heroes points faster, use special ammunition to inflict more Scratch damage to kill the enemies as fast as possible as well as breaking the enemy's armor faster, and move into cover to avoid receiving damage, as enemies hit pretty hard in general. I'll say it is quite unique and interesting combat system, although I feel so far the game has been relatively easy and kind of exploitable in certain fights.
The biggest flaw of the game in my opinion seems to be that it is too repetitive, specially if you do the secondaries quest. Apart from fighting there isn't that much to do. Customizing guns is great, but farming for materials no so much. The "fast travel" is limited, and although for the most part you travel through the overworld, it can become quite tiring, specially if you don't take measures to minimize enemies encounters, as >>15633778 pointed out. And even then, you do little more than fighting in the game. The limited types of weapons also hurts the game, as there are only Guns, Machine Guns and Grenades, meaning that there isn't many variation of what characters can do nor much character customization. Although weapon customization allows to change how weapons perform (for example, a scatter Muzzle will make your shoot scatter in a cone, which sucks to hit a single target but can be use to hurt enemies that are grouped together or force you to use hero action to shoot at close range and then move out of harm's way), but still it isn't anything dramatic, and it makes the tree character feel practically the same. The plot is interesting in my opinion, but quite peculiar. First, the writing has a very nice sense of humor, I actually laughed a coupled of times. The story seems, so far, to be more about the day to day of the protagonist, that work as mercenaries known as Hunters, presenting the worlds, its characters and giving us more information about the past of the main protagonists, while in the background there is another plot that runs parallel and is building up bit by bit to what it seems to be the climax of the game. Haven't finish the game yet, so can't comment much about it. So far is interesting but nothing really to write home about.
Overall, I'll say the game is good. It feels a bit unpolished in certain aspects, can become quite repetitive and some more variety of content would have helped the game greatly, but I'll say if you like JRPG and want something more unique, it is worth a go.
