Where to play Yu-Gi-Oh!

For online: YGOPro Percy (for PC), YGOProEs (for Android) - https://pastebin.com/m2e9Dzt1

Archive with all games playable on PC (mostly through emulation): http://pastebin.com/0SHfUYyj

Tag Force 1-6 are the best if you want a story (2006-2011, 6 has only the first 25 XYZ monsters).

Tag Force Special (2015) is the best to play for learning the game with many of the new cards.

The World Championship series (2004-2011) and Duel Academy (2006) are pretty good too. Definitely check out Dungeon Dice Monsters.

All are fun for pet/archetype non-meta decking. Legacy of the Duelist is shit.

Other Games

Cardfight!! Vanguard - https://pastebin.com/PmmjV382

Talk only about original Japanese franchises. No video game/mobile exclusive franchises and no card game spin-offs.

I just want the game to be simple again so I can actually participate in these threads and not be completely taken off guard by 99% of the posts because I have no idea what they're talking about or what the fuck has happened to this game over the years. I remember when Summoned Skull or Dark Magician were some of the hypest cards you could play, and no one cried about Pot of Greed, or fucking Morphing Jar, or Cyber Jar. The only card that would make me mad was Imperial Order because it's effect was crippling and you had to pay a proportionally small price in LP for it.

>>15524761

True Draco is neat on paper but basically just another flavor of anti-meta floodgate.dek degeneracy that makes the game boring to play for both players. I do like the idea of being able to tribute out whatever you want for them, and having effects that reflect what you used on some of them.

>>15524560

A lot of cards on the banlist have been there for years and will never leave because they're really poorly designed cards that were always BS to play against. A card like Pot of Greed may not be the most flashy card but even at one it makes decks just that much faster and consistent, and whoever draws theirs first has a serious advantage in winning the game just due to having superior options. That's to ignore some of the other absolutely idiotic cards from that same early era like Delinquent Duo which do absolutely nothing good gameplay wise, just a card to play to kill your opponents options.

Did you honestly like watching your opponent solitaire for a few minutes while your deck slowly ran out of cards? That's all a card like Cyber Jar ever enabled in the game.

35fcb3  No.15524823

You know what I hate most about Link Monsters?

The fact that, by themselves, they can actually be sort of fun to play, can give new support to old archetypes that otherwise would never see the light of day again, but it's all fucking undercut by the fact they Paywall literally everything else with their existence. If it weren't for things like YGOPro with MR3 Don't-Check-Deck duels letting you use (most) Links without the shitty MR4 stuff, I think I would have quit the game already. Not that it isn't tempting to do so with how much negation is flying around these days.

What in the fuck is this? I'm kind of out of a backlog when it comes to vidya and I see that there's 3 of those fuckers I can try out.

Since OP put this in, I'm guessing that he plays this game, how does it compare to YGO? Is it slower or is it crazy wombo combos from the get go? Do the games do a good job explaining all the rules for a complete beginner? Are there English patches or are the card effects simple enough that I can get by just looking at moonrunes?

afbd57  No.15526191

>>15526046

They are in Japanese with furigana, so it is easy to read. If you know any Japanese once you get used to the terminology it is very easy to read. I have played only the first game so far, though. It very different from YGO. It resembles Pokemon in some ways. The game is faster than old YGO, but definitely slower than turn 2 or 3 YGO wins. It is a fun game and all the card boxes are unlocked from the beginning, so you can buy whatever you want. The starter decks you get from doing starter mirrors with one of the characters. But if you don't know how to read basic Japanese or have learned the cards from playing before you probably won't manage. Though there is also one online fan game. Soon will be releasing an official mobile game, but it is going to probably be with the rules of the newest generation, which is a reboot of the whole game, but with new shit.

So you know your your kana?Then you should be fine.. You can even use the story for some practice. If worse come to worse you can check the name of a card on the vanguard wiki. Might be a bit hard with Japanese only before you get what some mechanics mean, but no worries, it is nothing complex. By the way it might be recommendable to run the emulator with Hardware Shaders disabled. I found it to create some slow downs for me.

Sure, ask away. Might want to link to me so I can get a notification, though.

About tactics, don't use the stand up triggers. They were so unused by players they went out of the game. Instead put 6 critical triggers in total. About decks, just go with what feels right or you can search online for old builds. The boxes in the games are same as the real boxes, so you can easily see what's in them if you are searching for some card. Battle points are relatively easy to make so if you know what you are searching for it it won't take too long to make a high tier deck. But even then the games can be close ones.

Would be like that Virtual World arc, I suppose? Or Duelist of the Roses?

be652c  No.15530169

>>15528529

The other rules for commander are kinda odd to think about…

It kinda makes a few fusions useless if its attribute locked, maybe it could also allow all cards listed on the extra deck monster in addition to any monsters?

Highlander still makes sense to keep main deck dependent decks not completely dominate, though imao1poly still sorta fucks fusion;

maybe anything required for the extra deck card could be allowed to be ran at three(so if it listed neos or something you could run it at three or if it has "can/must be fusion summoned" allows three polys;

but if it just listed "fire monster" in its requirements you can run fire monsters but only in one ofs)?

f54e23  No.15530236

>>15530169

Make cards that count as the "same name" in-game count as different cards for commander purposes and your problem is solved, also acts as a proxy-buff to some weak archetypes. In this case you can have at least:

>Fusion Sage

>Poly

>Super Poly

>Fusion Substitute

>Fusion Recycling Plant

without getting into gimmick territory.

be652c  No.15530274

>>15530236

I do still feel like the listed requirements being allowed in addition is required;

stuff like shadolls(not that they would be very good with only one fusion) wouldn't be able to function without listed stuff being allowed, it also allows for decks built around the option of the materials;

having a worthless "commander" so you can run certain groups seems cute(so you could run five headed for DARKs and Dragons).

The ability to run multiplies might be too much though i agree, though stuff like Gol'gar would rendered useless without triple of their needed material;

so the named materials being allowed at three might be needed just to balance the fact that otherwise they would be really bad compared to their less specific cousins.

Though now that i think about it, Invoked might be way too strong with such a ruling.

Most of where the new legacy support is coming from is nosalgia sets which yugioh has always had at least a bit, the only thing different is that they're pandering to more than just Yugi and Kaiba fans for once. There's also always been legacy support for older archetypes people like, even outside of nostalgia pandering since people like to see their old cards be usable again. The only thing that feels unusual is the sudden influx of Neos support since that had never received any support since it was new and was pretty much just a joke in terms of playability. I've seen it theorized that Jaden may be returning in the anime and that seems somewhat plausible with all the new Neos cards and the set after SAST being named after Neos.

be652c  No.15542372

>>15542334

Or maybe they just realized its fucktarded to have a main characters archtype basically be unusable.

T.G is actually a pretty obvious choice as the deck was actually somewhat meta(which puts it in a somewhat blackwing spot, though not precisely as blackwings were shilled to hell and back) and Bruno was a major character.

Nordics fit the "belonged to an important character" thing as well, i don't actually remember if the guys who used them were popular.

I wonder if this means that Meklord support might pop-up soon.

Its not impossible for "Jaden" to pop up in VRAINS though, due to the avatar stuff.

Stairway to the Destined Duel (2003) has board wipes everywhere and there were only two decks: Normal, which packs in as many draw cards, board wipes and disable cards with monsters that are high power for their attack and easy tributes OR Exodia, which has all the draw cards and the exoida parts plus defensive monsters and board wipes/counters to help last long enough.

Over the Nexus (2011) is has less board wipes, but still plenty of spells/traps/effect monsters that destroy stuff and counter it. You've got decent variety beyond these core cards though, with archetypes that favor swarming, buffing a single piercing dude, and some others, plus more options for Exodia themed decks.
