those servers are still up but they're boring and lame because there are no rules to encourage players to form up small groups and duke it out against other small groups. you grind to 60 then get stomped by people that are in the single largest guild on the server and don't fear reprisal, or you get killed by a stealthed loser that's been camping the same spot for the last 15 hours just to ambush you. the idea of making builds using all the talents and skills available sounds cool but then you realize you'll never get to heal / tank / cc for another player and it's just a bunch of fags who want to 'lone wolf' and grief everyone else off the server.

ironically the "world pvp super hardcore you will definitely shit your pants" server is just like all the other private (and official) servers where everyone spends all their time in stormwind or orgrimmar, except you can get mugged for your green sword of boar slaying so you can't even mine / pick flowers in the empty game world.
