Outside of the fact that it's a franchise that is focused on using prior properties like Spyro to draw in players and get unkowing casual parents to buy it for their kids by their inclusion, it's a series that is focused on milking money from kids via an excessive amount of peripheral accessories disguised as toys, to fool unknowing parents.
It's a skinnerbox for kids. It's DLC laden. It's predatory. It's also a bad game. It's also a bad franchise in general in regards to quality and I wouldn't let my kids anywhere near it or anything like it.
It's a glorified, dressed up mobile game focused on making money first and foremost and it is a stretch to call it a game because it's purpose is not to entertain.
This is likely a thread by marketers to collect data, so here's some data: Get the fuck out of every property that you market for and stop filching money from kids. It will backfire, your companies will bankrupt in the future due to laws that will regulate and destroy your businesses slowly, and the practices you've used are mental viruses that is causing an immunity reaction within the populace.
The more you push, the more your job becomes irrelevant and unstable.

I liked the game on the 3DS, it wasn't the ARPG that was on consoles but a proper 3D platformer that had level design most similar to the old Crash game (linear forward and back and side-on progression).

pretty much this. they could fix it easy, but they won't.
all you gotta do is add a bit more depth to character build mechanics, speed up the gameplay a bit, stop pushing a new line every game, and up the difficulty. heck that last one you could add an option for kid or adult mode like most of the kamen rider games.
