I'm no expert, but I think having two dark or two light bishops is just a waste anyway when you can have a second queen

I think the possible number of game states in chess is Sum n=0; lim=31:(32-n)^(64-n), but the last piece can go in anywhere of 33 spots, so instead of 1^33, just +33. Wolfram Alpha says it's whatever this number is, 2,145,057,407,309,095,372,777,997,233,642,947,494,506,894,483,050,365,307,018,632,336,086,679,632,850,326,726,325,963,060,630,688.
That's a lot of fucking game states, and that's assuming no pieces have been captured i'm not sure it's possible to legally reach some game states without some captured pieces, though
And that's just on a 8x8 map with a total of 32 units.
For a while, it used to be that no AI could beat a human at Go, but that's no longer true. Go doesn't have the kind of game states that can exist in vidya maps, but it is MUCH larger than Chess, with a 19x19 map (a total of 361 positions) starting with 0 units, and slowly increasing until no more units can legally fit on the grid, say 200-300.
The madmen actually did it because Go is another big meme. Maybe if Star Craft becomes just another massive meme, the fuckers at google can try to get an AI to beat the best SC2 players.
