● "Vacations: Adventures or Relaxation?" was the August Splatfest theme in Europe & Oceania. Pearl has still never lost a Splatfest exclusive to those regions.
● Japan's equivalent Splatfest happened on the same weekend, and it was another product placement event. "Meiji Candy" fans favored the Mushroom Mountain box over the Bamboo Shoot Village variety.
● Octopi became legally inferior to squids at the end of July's worldwide Splatfest. As a result, the Octoling amiibo range has been delayed into October, to ensure less people buy them.
● Free content updates (four new weapons per month, and occasional new maps) will continue to the end of 2018.
● Septembers Update was delayed along with a Nintendo direct because of the natural disasters plaguing Nippon, also Splat 2 will not be supported by cloud gaming
● Future plans for Splatoon, including the fate of the original game's servers, have not been announced yet.

I only managed to get in a little over 225 hours or so in Splatoon 2. Most of those I've been playing with the brellas by now.
I'm not paying for online bullshit, since I can't play often anyway, so it's been fun; I hope it blows up in Nintendo's face if they go through with it; I don't think there are enough good players who will pay for it and that will tank their numbers if they add another barrier to online.
Anyway, if they go through with it, I'll stop playing and that will give me time to categorize all of my videos to share with you all, which I've been meaning to do for months now.
Pearl is the best. I've always gone with Pearl.

Because it's an ONLINE MULTIPLAYER COMPETITIVE SHOOTER. One profile and one account is all you get. Once paid online rolls out account creation will be more restricted. Because if Nintendo finds out your permabanned account and alt account are tied to the same credit card and bank then that's it.

As I have said, one reason I don't play often these days is that the match making is shit and unbalanced. S+ of 1 was fantastic and I was constantly dropping from it to S because I usually played with a lot of great players and I was the lowest skilled of them. But X rank is crap, I don't get put into a balanced group: if I am ranked X 2300, I get put with people who might be 2100-2200 (as I am guessing from weapon shine), while the other team might get two 2400+ and two 2100. The reason I am guessing these numbers is that BARELY any game feel balanced with regards to players, either you stomp them or you get stomped, and rarely do I encounter games where the skill level is even between the players.
I can't wait for the next patch to introduce X+ and then after that X++ and X+++ until grading has no meaning anymore just like now.

I couldn't fucking keep track of all the shit they had: Club Nintendo, NNIDs, friend codes, and at least one or two other profile shit things associated with them. It was fun while it lasted, but Nintendo Switch Online is gonna kill the playerbase as they do not wanna pay for shitty P2P connections. They literally just explained on the Tumblr that Splatfests are being reworked. Solo and Team has been replaced with Regular and Pro. Wins are no longer counted and it's a new system called "clout."
In Regular matches your team gains clout from the amount of turf you inked, even if you lose. Wins reward you with a clout bonus, and the longer your win streak, the more clout you get.
In Pro matches your Splatfest Power is what gets you clout. You earn clout from wins, and get more clout from winstreaks and beating a team with a higher Splatfest Power than you. Besides that, there are also clout bonus matches that award x5, x10, and the super rare x100 clout amounts.

Stigma aside, I didn't see anything about mirror matches in that post. If they're counting clout from mirror matches in that then I already see a problem.
The splatfest matchmaking would work exactly the same as it does now with the popular team being put against itself, except now the team most people are on will now be getting much more clout than the other because both teams in mirror matches are inking for the same side, while the other is put at a disadvantage because they would need an absurdly high win rate just to keep up. In this case, the more popular team would win and you would start to see Marina beating out Pearl with 2-1s and even 3-0s (because the Pro matches with 5x, 10x, and 100x weighting can and will make the results in that category much more volatile).
Unless they put in a failsafe where everyone simultaneously gets booted out of a lobby when a team is fighting itself, the tables will turn, Marina's getting a Splatfest winning streak and shit's going to get even more out of hand. Maybe they want to push Marina wins for future lore, who knows

I'm still curious about the frequency of 5x, 10x, and 100x matches (whether there's a set probability of getting one based on the number of active matches at any given time) and whether circumstances make them show up more (if one team being far behind in clout makes the multipliers show up more). If you want my prediction, Nintendo Switch Online will cause a major hit in the Splatoon playerbase. Probably not Japan as those chinks will buy into any of Nintendo's bullshit, but the NA and EU playerbase will definitely see a dive.
These kids don't wanna pay for Online when they used to get it for free, especially since we've had a year and a half to test it and it didn't get better. They know the hell Splatoon's network is with the disconnects and lag and lack of anticheat. The moment the paywall shows up, a shitload of people are gonna quit in protest and just play something else, namely Fortnite because guess what: That game doesn't require a NSO sub, has better network connections, and voice chat that doesn't require a fucking smartphone app that doesn't work.
Asking around the majority of Switch owners have said the same thing: "I'm waiting for Smash." Even then a big percentage of them are still not gonna buy a sub for they know the hell that was Brawl and Smash 4's online, and fear Ultimate will end up the same way.
But it's not just Splatoon that will take a major dive. What's left of the ARMS playerbase will be completely gone. Mario Tennis Aces has already been losing a shitload of players because of how shit that game is, and NSO will hit the final nail of the coffin. Puyo Puyo Tetris is gonna take a big hit outside of Japan as well since the PC port exists, despite the fact it's riddled with Denuvo. And so many more third party games are gonna lose their players for they simply do not wanna pay for the shitty service.
Nintendo has the feedback. They had two delays and a year and a half of the Switch being out to test the online, and they did nothing despite the service being universally panned by everyone. So I'm looking forward to seeing how fucked this shit gets. I give it about four months before Nintendo finally does a 180 and either fixes this shit to be what people want, or just make online free again. But by that time, the damage will probably be already done.

The issue with Grillers was that the egg output was always low compared to any other wave, and it made things harder and harder when you reach higher level Profreshional and Grizz starts demanding over 20 eggs. I wouldn't call it hard, but it was the hardest of the existing waves.
Couple the low output with randoms who never belonged in Profresh and punishment weapons like Inkbrush that are effectively useless as anything other than boss bait, and it's just a boring slog when night-waves should be FUN.
Compare Grillers to Glowfly Rush, Goldie Geyser, and Mothership waves when it comes to average score and FUN. Also consider Fog waves used to be just regular fucking waves, except foggy. That's not fun or interesting. Both Grillers and Fog waves were disappointing to see and a quick way to lose morale, rather than engaging alternative or a welcome break from the standard Salmonid monotony.

I dropped out of Mumble mostly because irl work at the time was getting in the way of weekend Splatoon. Being on call 24/7 just fucking sucked at the time. The job got shitcanned, but then I come home to a lost save file and Splatoon 2 mumble became a lost cause. Even if I could rose back to the rank I was the mumble would already be in rank X. Which meant I'd have to solo to get to Rank X. And lo and behold the shitters will be intelligent enough to get there by the time I hit it. So I played other games instead.
Ironically this meant that I had to install parental controls on my phone to make sure family don't erase my save data like dicks again. Parental Controls app protects your game saves with a PIN at the expense of making other things inconvenient.

Nintendo is actually getting less direct feedback than they did during Miiverse/Wii U era (eg: Users would complain on Miiverse and then Nintendo did actually try to mend/patch issues such as 50hz NES/SNES games in Europe, F-Zero X VC steering sensitivity issues, Steel Diver: Sub Wars control changes).
Nintendo supposedly listens to twitter, facebook and apparently a bunch of other sites (reddit on occasion possibly tumblr). It's confirmed when Treehouse staff mentioned complaints from r/splatoon when changing the text command "C'Mon!" to "To Me!" over (NA) player confusion about the meaning of it (while PAL region already used "To Me!"
The problem with the other social media outlets is that there is so much noise and spread of fans responding to Nintendo posts, it probably makes it harder for them to listen. A good paper petition complaining about the online situation early on probably would have been a good idea and make a better impact.
