After digging for a bit, I don't think that Agent 3 has an official canon Eye Color. In the official artwork, it shows her with Orange eyes. But in two different playthroughs of Octo Expansion, it seems like the game randomizes her eye color. She had Blue eyes in 1 playthrough and Violet eyes in another, but still had her canonically Yellowish-Green hair color in both. And in Smash Ultimate, the Inkling Girl's "Agent 3" alt costume is blonde with blue eyes.
Canonically, it seems like Agent 3's hair color is Yellow-Green, but also having no official Eye color.

Last I checked, the game still works provided you ignore the system update prompt. When you try to start the game, it asks you to install a system update now - just tap up to "Start Software".
It's not the first time Nintendo's created a system update to reduce the functionality of a console (see every Wii System Update that attempted to remove the Homebrew Channel), but it may be the first time they've done it to intentionally cripple a service they created themselves. And hilariously, they didn't make it mandatory. Not having the update locks you out of eShop, but not Splatoon's online.
I imagine they'll realize and "fix" it soon enough, but hopefully it'll keep working long enough for us to enjoy the final Splatfest. (How ironic that, immediately after Team Retro trounces Team Modern, most of Splatoon 2's playerbase will migrate back to Splatoon 1).

It sounds like you and your brother only use one Switch between you, so everything except the online multiplayer should work like it used to; all of your downloaded software and DLC can still be shared without restrictions, but if only one of you has an active pass, then only that account can play online.
Basically, unless you want to take turns sharing one account for multiplayer, then you're looking at separate / family passes.

Don't feel too bad. Bad news for everyone hoping to play: I just tested it, and the loophole has been closed. Entering the lobby in Splatoon 2 now causes a popup to appear telling you that a system update is required.
Gonna try the DNS bypass trick and see if that works, but otherwise, I think online service for Splat2n is officially dead. A moment of silence for our squidkids. May they rest in peace (until anonymous hackers create private servers.)

Holy shit I didn't even know that I missed this. Everything in Splatoon 2 is like 25% bigger all around for no reason and the new maps seem to be getting more and more spread out and open. I really hope they fix this in a potential Splatoon 3, but I'm scared with how weapons are scaling up too with the explosher and bubbler being designed to threaten shitloads of ground that it's just gonna get bigger until you might as well just be running around a flat fucking plain every game.

The servers seemed to take a noticeable hit. I got an unstable connection for the first time in a while, but it lasted two seconds and it was right back to the match. It was probably someone causing it because that was the only match where I had that kind of problem. Also, I've had about 5 disconnects in the past month, but two teammates disconnected in different matches today making 3v4s in the other team's favor. It's hard to tell how things are going to work out this early into paid online, though.
I played an unranked match earlier today and got matched instantly with sub-20 levels. I would say that means more people are starting to play 1 but unranked is always filled with them anyway.
Other than that, things are mostly the same. Japs are still all you'll ever be put up against at this time, and there are real brutal ones at every rung of the ranked ladder, so it's good to go on there around now if you want to git gud or are masochistic enough to be stuck on a rank until you get lucky with a winning streak. Other burgers are on at any other time, but they're no fun.
I can count on one hand the number of squids I've seen in this game with a skin tone that wasn't white.

I'd give you the regular "motion controls, cover as much floor with ink as you can, x button exists" bullshit. Problem is, it's prime time for the Land of the Rising Sun so you could be dealing with 日本人 snipers that decided to go on a losing streak to low ranks to fuck around with newcomers and get shekels for their rerolls. You'll know if you get one when your whole team ends up getting splatted almost at the same time. This is especially true with this stage rotation - they just fucking love those high spots near the middle in Camp Triggerfish. You want to do something to keep them on edge and force them to lose the high ground. The best way to take them out is to ink a pathway to him out of his and his teammates' line of sight, and flank him. You don't need to be on the ground all of the time, shoot a wall and make the leap of faith if it keeps you out of detection, as long as they don't see the ripples you're making on the wall. The only time flanking becomes a problem is with echolocator/point sensor. Then you just move and act defensively with no apparent destination until the effect wears off, and then stay out of the area where you were when you had the curly arrow target on you.
If there's no way to reach him other than straight ahead of you, then try to play stupid with him. First, make sure there's a good amount of ink around you. Once that's taken care of, shoot a few drops up high from any certain point to get his attention. Immediately hide in the ink, and swim a good amount to the side (don't kill the left stick, if you move too fast you'll make ripples and he'll see you). Wait for a second. If he jumps down firing where you just were and/or wastes his charged shot, he's as good as dead as long as you can keep a steady aim on him.
That should be enough to carry you through the night and hopefully get you to a point where you can learn more about each weapon without having a sniper get 10+ kills and carry his team to a knockout. And don't forget: the objective of Rainmaker and Tower Control is not to cover the floor with ink. It is extremely helpful, of course, but it's not the end-all, be-all, and you can't just aimlessly go and touch up areas that mean fuck all when your teammates need help. The tower is really easy to lose track of if you're not paying attention, and being halfway across the map when the opposing team is near their goal could mean you just threw the match and your team now hates you to the point of wanting to throw you in the ocean.

Now it just rotated to Moray Towers and Flounder Heights (Rainmaker). The towers are a vertical map by design, so of course it's sniper heaven, on the top and on the bottom. You're in clear view in human form except at the very top. Don't keep your head glued to the ground.
Flounder Heights isn't as bad, just watch your step when you're not on the top, and don't take the ramp on your side to the roofs in the beginning if you can help it. Ink the building so you can get up to the roof where the ramp is on the other side. And when you are on the top, always check the small elevated platforms on either side. A good amount of the japs should be gone by next rotation.

-Cloud saving is buggy and doesn't work half the time when backing up games.
-Limits when you can play subscription games if you don't connect to the internet for more than a week, which defeats the point of the portable aspect.
-"Special Offers" are literally fucking nothing. No discounts or bonus gold points when buying games. Only a $60 NES joycon and a shitty shirt code in Splatoon 2 for year long subscribers.

It's worth mentioning, too, that the built in NES emulator on Switch is absolute trash. Netplay is impossible with it. Even in Super Mario Bros., where the game has players take turns during the stages has lag so atrocious, that it can mess up timing of jumps, make it so you outright can't run at times, and causes constant stuttering.

I haven't had this problem with VirtuaNES, RockNESX, RetroArch, SNES9k, ZSNES, Gens, or Kega Fusion. Seriously. I've been doing online play on ZSNES for close to 15 years. Fucking Fightcade lets me play fighting games like the Capcom JoJo and Third Strike using a VPN with some guy in Brazil and suffer at worst an issue once every few hours. Nintendo can't manage this without fucking it up royally in only a way Nintendo can. It's no wonder why Splatoon has so many teleporting enemies, requires so many shots to kill, are immune to my splat bombs, and kill me in a single hit. The online functionality is outright broken at its core.
I paid for the service because playing Splatoon with my friends is very important to me, and I'm willing to take it up the ass to do so. However, the service offers me nothing. The game library currently is atrocious, most of which I have owned physical copies of and can emulate for free.
Further still, have you seen the upcoming lineup? October has Solomon's Key, NES Open Tournament Golf, and Super Dodge Ball. November has Metroid, Mighty Bomb Jack, and Twin Bee. December has Wario's Woods, Ninja Gaiden, and Adventures of Lolo. Some of these games are alright as a collective, if you've never played them, but seriously, why would I pay $2/month for Mario 3 again, The Legend of Zelda again, an inferior version of Donkey Kong again, and River City Ransom again? Why the fuck did the Virtual Console charge an extra dollar for Japanese titles, but couldn't be fucking bothered to translate them? What fucking Jewry is this? I hate Nintendo, and wouldn't have bought the Switch in the first place, but boy oh boy do I love Splatoon enough to pay for the fucking thing.

The problem is that the metrics are fucked. If you look at previous splatfests for 2, the majority of the time, the winning team takes both single and team categories. This is because the two are entwined with each other, meaning popularity was practically a useless metric. Player skill was the only thing that meant anything, because it accounted for two of the three winning categories. Now, anything but popularity is less useful, because the new system benefits the team with more people more than it benefits the other. Unless there's a huge gap in player skill between teams, whoever wins popularity is almost given to win the entire splatfest. If a competition is going to judge by multiple metrics, they need to be isolated from each other enough to be worth a damn.

Popular teams were fighting themselves more than the opposing teams due to the lack of available ques for the opposing team. The most points you get in a splatfest is from early ranks. Afterwards you risk losing more points to lower rank squids than gaining them with same rank. At least before I had to stop playing online. Clout seems like an improvement, but it looks like it favors populist teams. I don't think there's an easy way of salvaging Splatoon 2's splatfests without redesigning them from scratch.

What's always fascinated me about Splatoon is that it ended up being objectively cooler and more likable than the things it was trying to emulate. If they were made of ink, it would make sense that a moderate amount of water would cause only minor damage to their bodies, which could regenerate based on how readily they make it, while they would rapidly dissociate in a large body of water because there is way too much water for their ink regeneration to act against. during splatfests they fire off to show that theyre pretty pumped for these special events. theres not much else they can do to convey excitement without more animations. its pretty cute to see the normally disinterested pearl suddenly get fired up.

Guess Nintendo knows what they're doing after all. I was a wee bit salty about not being allowed to play in the final Splatfest. Now that I know that they simultaneously fucked up the ranking system at the same time as they started charging people to play, I'm doubly glad to be back in Splatoon 1.
The music is so much better in 1 than 2. It's always really noticable during Splatfest - 1 only had one song but it was great, while 2 has a bunch of tunes that range from mediocre to grating (that damn Willy Wonka song). But even the regular stage music selection is way better in the first one.
