The problem is Nolan didn't know what he wanted to make. He wanted to make a grounded "realistic" Batman but at the same time wanted an action spy movie but at the same time as that wanted a 2deep4you philosophical movie on being a hero. You mix it all together and you get a mess that doesn't fully do anything it wanted to. The only reason people even like Dark Knight is because of Heath Ledger giving such a different sort of Joker that edgy teens everywhere flocked to. Trendy I think is an appropriate term. 2012 was pretty much the last year of having "great" superhero films, but, after 2015, nothing really felt like it had an actually identity anymore because they were too busy to copy something another film did and happened to become popular. Dude, you can say it. I'm Chinese-Canadian. A lot of the fresh of the boat people from China don't know these thing that are put out are for the firefighters. They just think the government is stupid to leave those things out. So the figure they "hustle" and make some money. As for the lack of morality and philosophy in China. It's not so much the cultural revolution. It's more the failure of Communism, left Chinese society without a philosophy or values. Here is what I wrote replying to a previous conversation:
