It's been more or less impossible to get prebuilt desktops or laptops that don't have 10 on them for at least a year now. General attrition of older machines, especially laptops, means that people will have to replace with a 10 machine, and while installing 7 on a desktop is a breeze, laptops can be finicky. Couple that with (((Microsoft's))) "windows 7 won't work with your new hardware, better buy 10 goyim" scare tactics, their out-of-nowhere upgrades towards the end of the "free upgrade" period, and dummies' reluctance to just pirate 7, and you understand where we're at now. Just to help explain the survey, Windows 10 is so high because Microsoft and Intel agreed to fuck things up by letting modern CPUs only support Windows 10. After having a lot of trouble with an older computer, I decided it wasn't worth it to try to workaround, despite loving Windows 7 for almost a decade. Trust me, if it was easy for us, a lot of that Windows 10 base would go back to Windows 7.

A popup where clicking "no, fuck you" still restarted your computer and installed 10. The worst part is that it worked. When my mom's desktop forced her to upgrade, I told her it wouldn't take me more than like a half hour to put it back to 7, but she just said "eh, it's fine." Worse was when my dad willingly upgraded, and he's supposed to be somewhat tech savvy. When I tried to warn him about how awful 10 was, he just brushed me off and called me paranoid. I sell PCs in a retail store; I run into people all of the time complaining how their PC stopped working correctly after they were forced to update to Windows 10 (a lot of the times they just call if that "Microsoft update" or whatever). People regularly ask me if they can get computers with Windows 7, and most people seem to universally dislike Windows 10 if they are computer literate.
Most of the Windows 10 unique things they keep pushing, like Cortana, Windows Ink, Mixed Reality, etc.seem extremely gimmicky, solutions for problems that never really exists. I can wow people by showing them Windows Ink demos in OneNote, but I know almost none of the people who get a stylus will end up using it. It's just far too clumsy to use.

I remember staying 7 until my computer did the most extreme thing and killed itself, erasing everything on my computer. Got a blue screen telling me no OS was on the computer. Just last year, tools used by the CIA for remote code execution on Windows via the Samba protocol were leaked onto the internet, causing that wannacry ransomware debacle. Yes, Microsoft undoubtedly patches in new backdoors all the time in their updates, but you need them for when their existing backdoors are revealed to the "bad guys" and need to be fixed.
